Anybody tried Nicorette gum??

So I find myself in this bad cycle of whenever I'm driving truck or operating equipment I have to have my lip candy in. Well we've been going steady since christmas day and my gawd da*n lip is gonna fall off!!! :( I really should quit, but that's only happened like 44 times. Just wondering if the gum works and if anyone has tried it?? Input??

My uncle chewed for 30 years and quite last year using the tablets that you suck on. He hasn't had a chew in over a year now, but is still sucking on the tabs.

I used the gum last year to quit, worked great. Used the gum for about a month then got the flu and quit using the gum. NO more chew or gum for just over a year.

Sludge

I have tried it and it does help quite abit. When you chew it the nicotine starts to come out and has a similar bite that chew has. Once you notice the bite from the gum you put it in your lip for a while and repeat. I just saw they have come out with cinnamon. They say cinnamon flavored stuff helps a little by itself so the new gum may be even better.

I switched back and forth from smoking to chewing when I took a job driving that wouldn't allow smoking in the work vehicles. I tried spitless chewing tobacco, the pill spitless chewing tobacco (Stonewall). When I quit my biggest problem was switching to another bad habit of drinking alot of pop or chewing on straws etc. I tried the patch and it worked for a year but I went back to it. Another time I tried to quit was with the gum and it helped at first for a couple months but I started back up. Overall my best way to quit for me was cold turkey. You really have to watch for the things that make you want to smoke or has become routine and change those routine. And also ask you friends that once you quit to not discuss smoking with you. I fell off the bankwagon once after a year because someone was talking how proud they were of me, and asked if I miss it etc. It pissed me off because then I started thinking about smoking again and went back to it. I quit again in August and asked my friends not to talk about it and why (you would ask a former coke head if they missed the rush would you?) and they say smoking cigarrettes is as hard or harder to quit than coke.

It is all relative to how bad you want it. Smoking, chewing, drinking, eating, snowest, etc. If you want to quit bad enough you just need to STOP.

Bruce, I think you kinda got a 1 track mind there!

I had lasic eye surgery seven years ago ,they gave me some eye drops for aftercare that made smokes taste so bad I quite cold turky . Haven't had a smoke sense. The first year I did have two take some deep breaths like taking a toke off a lefty. So far so good!!!

OK, I should reposition my original statement. I want to quit chewin', but I don't want to quit nicotine!! LOL. I was more interested in if the gum was a good substitute for dip. I'm not gonna lie, nicotine calms me down, helps me stay alert, and keeps me from wanting to pull that little teenage azzhole in the compact beer can with no exhaust out of his car and beat him after he HAS to get in front of me and then decide to turn and slam on his brakes.......and this always happens when I'm fully loaded for some reason!!

Anyway's, thanks for the good info and congrates to those of you who have givin' up the habits. My day hasn't arrived yet.....probably because I don't want it too just yet!!!;)
