Anybody tow with a Tacoma

I'm ditching the Diesel for good and looking to by a mid size truck like a Tacoma. Just want to make sure it will pull my aluminum 2 place Triton trailer with sleds. Anybody have any experience or know somebody with a Toyota Tacoma?

I've towed 2 sleds on a steel snoland'r trailer on several occasions with my old 4 cyl. 2rz 2wd Tacoma, as well as my old 3rz 4WD. They do "okay" on the flat but slow mountain passes require 2nd gear sometimes. The trailer is a bit of a pig though, both trucks did a lot better with one in the bed and one on a 4X8 trailer.

Mine will be an 06-07 4.0 V6 235hp. I would assume it will do fine. I actually have a 01 Ford Ranger work truck with a 4.0 190hp that pulls them Ok but nothing to brag about.

i towed a 2 place triton with a 2010 Tacoma loaded with 2 Yamaha Nytros and it did fine. Coming from a 2006 5.9 Dodge CTD there is def a huge power difference. At high altitude it gets a little sluggish but any vehicle with a Turbo or SC will loose tons of power ontop of mtns passes.

Good MPG's with a 3 inch lift and 33 inch tires.

Get rid of the oil burner. Then on the money saved not buying diesel you can drop in a TRD supercharger and wham, 300 plus HP!! I drove one for a couple of years and let me tell ya, it was SAWEET!

I have an 08 4.0 crew cab. Have pulled the two place with it several times. Not going to win any races but will hold 65 just fine. And makes for an awesome daily driver! Say what you want about toyota, but they are BY FAR the most reliable truck built. Sure my chevy has more power.....but also takes way more repairs.

2 place aluminum with the 4.0L V6 is no prob at all. I've got a couple customers who tow 26' travel trailers in the mountains here with those trucks, believe it or not. Again won't win any races with that setup, but it works.

This was my demo truck a few years ago with two 450's and boat all loaded up....towed great even with the manual trans. Bone stock right down to the crappy beach ball tires. Boat is a 20' Sea Ray that weighs just over 4,000lbs with fuel, gear and trailer by my best guess?

If you're getting the double cab, get the auto trans....it has more snap and gets better fuel econ than the stick shift. Also 6' box instead of the crappy 5' pictured above.

I have a 2007 double cab with the 4.0, 6 speed and 33's. I have pulled 5,800 lbs up parleys at 55mph. This truck pulls great. I have also pulled my dads 22 ft open trailer with 5 sleds on it no problem. You will have no problems with the little Al trailer. You are welcome to bring to bring the trailer and hook it up for a test run. I'm not too far from Suncrest. (Lehi)

That's a very nice gesture but I'll take your word.:face-icon-small-hap I just need to find a good buy on one.:face-icon-small-dis

My buddies tacoma 4 banger was struggling with 2 sleds on a tilt on I70 it got us there but you weren't gonna be passing anybody going uphill.

V6 has a lot more jam and an extra gear in the transmission....big difference
