Anybody running a different motor in there IQ??

I am done with my 09 800 cfi motor. I was looking at putting a whole different motor in my IQ chassis. Has anyone done it? What motor would you suggest to dropping in? I hear brad wursten is building his own motors. I'm guessing I would need run custom pipes.

take your 800 bottom end and put a 700 top end on it, heard from reliable sources that this works verry good. some guys are also putting in bigblock 800's

995 Big bore off of old big block crank. Or Brad's 1100 big bore twin

Honestly I am in the same boat as you. How bout you buy us both a new Pro. I would like the Retro 163. You better hurry on in to RMS. Snowcheck ends the 19th. Thanks Bill

I don't know if I will ever get a polaris again. :face-icon-small-hap This sled has really pisted me off. Nothing but problems this year. I like the chassis but hate the motor.

I have a bigblock in mine, super simple install. The options are pretty endless, about the only thing you couldnt do is a watercraft motor. You could go with a big block 800, 860, 910, or a XCR, Ultra. How about some cat options.. like a 900, or a 1150..mmmm fun.

If you want to keep the efi, why not go to a M8 motor? They are pretty tough. I was considering it with mine. Plus if you want to bore or turbo down the road, there is a ton of proven set ups. I just decided mine ran good enough.

I always tell everyone, I have the most reliable IQ on the planet, with the BB700 under the hood.

Would a 995 bolt onto the CFI bottom end?

ya got a free thanks, lol to early, but to answer your question no it will not.:face-icon-small-coo (at least i've never seen it done, you can make anything work given enough time and money)

first option is carls 860 kit, eliminates all problems with the 800, uses there own big bore jugs and pistons as well as mapping, GREAT power and zero issues. The kit goes back to separate jugs like the big block. Very nice kit but it is a tad $$$ Available in pump gas or blend and I assume race gas as well. My friend loves his.

The 800 BB is of course a good choice. I run the slp/polaris 903 motors and they are pretty bullitproof. But very $$, as it uses a custom stroker billet crank from the crankshop. Parts are all gone as well.

Carls 910 again good choice but jugs/stuff also a bit hard to find

Brads deal I suspect will be a very, very good motor but you could probably buy a new pro for the motor cost.

nice high compression ported BB would be the least expensive option and parts all available. Think my buddies makes aroung 165 hp or so. Brad does the plate and the pipes. So does slp.

I think my first choice would be the carls 860, does it all like a stocker with 45 more horsepower, and turbo kit can be added...

oh, my bad, 700 also a GREAT option, add a turbo and hang on !!

Would a 995 bolt onto the CFI bottom end?

No, there are a ton of differences. The 995 was based on a 76mm stroke crank with 136mm rods. the 800 CFI uses a 70mm crank with 132mm rods. The 995 was also a 1/2" wider than a BB800 in the cases which widened the transfer width.

I have installed 726/727's in my 2 IQ's. There are the 797 engines that polaris used for Sno cross that can go into these chassis, they are an easy bolt in when on an HO case.

It may be possible to install the 797 cyls on the 800 case and run the 85mm wiseco, it would address the crappy cyls and out of spec pistons currently found on the 800 CFI, but it would take custom fabrication to install the injectors in the rear of the cyl.

Another kit would be the SLP 777 engine, not sure how difficult it would be made to work, but it does have a port layout that is similar to the 800, the cyl is set up for a 85mm piston and it has the CFI ports.
