Just got diagnosed today that my Gall Bladder is fawked and needs to be plucked out... finally after 7 months of hell and test after test and umpteen thousands of $$$$ later.:mad::mad:

Anywho.... What do I get to look forward to next week?? IE.. pains, side effects, diet change (if any), good pain meds, etc.

Not looking forward to it, as I phukin hate hospitals and crap!!!!!!

Nothing first hand, but a buddy had it done last monday and was at the SF game on sunday. Hope all works out for you.

my wife had it done a while ago. Her diet is the same as before, so no worries. The worst part for my wife was my son kicking her stitches from the inside. (shouldn't be a problem for ya) As far as side effects go, she gets the runs easier than before, but you'll learn what foods do it to ya. (high fat for her) Don't try and sit up on your own for a few days. She said it hurt like crazy. Don't laugh either, but for me that was the best part, because it was haha...ouch...haha...ouch. it was one of the funniest things I ever saw.

Had mine out about 8 or 9 years ago... Was out sleddin with my staples still in a few days later.... But I was a bit sore after that... lol

My diet hasn't changed even though they told me it would... Only thing I noticed is about a half hour after eating... better find a bathroom! lol

HAHA, If you can't laugh frogger you are screwed, guess we won't see your face on SJ for a while.....

Hope all goes well buddy and you have a speed recovery... :beer;

That's what I was thinking..... no forums for a couple days:eek::eek: Wonder how I will survive:rolleyes:

Surgery scheduled for next Thursday, oh joy. Thanks Rob:beer;

Just make sure you have a good Dr.
Not to scare you or anything, BUT:
Poor kid I worked with at Beale AFB went to travis AFB to have his removed. The stupid azz military Dr. ended up cutting his fermoral artery and he lost one leg from just below the hip, and the other one about mid thigh. His name is Colton Reed, and is pretty much effed now.

I had mine out last fall, middle of October. The first several days were really painful, I have a high tolerance to pain killers. My main problem was that I get severe muscle spasms in my stomach area whenever I have a major injury, or a surgery there. I just had a kidney surgery last month and the same thing happened. So the muscles spasms put me back in the ER, made the pain about 10 times worse. As soon as they got those stopped it wasn't too bad. After about 10 days the pain level really dropped and wasn't bad. It was still sore for a couple weeks though. Are you getting it lathroscopically (spelling?) removed?

As for diet, I can't eat really high fat without getting nauseated and sick feeling the next morning. Dairy fat seems to be the worst. It's not a huge problem, I just watch what I eat and if I want to eat something higher fat I just have a small portion. They gave me vicodin, which doesn't help me much but worked better than nothing. The worst is throwing up after a surgery like that (not fun!!), so be careful with the meds. Don't take a big dose at once if you don't know how you handle that med. And don't take them on an empty stomach. Start out with the lower dose and after a couple hours take more if you need it.

It was worth it, before the surgery I had really severe pain in my side, constantly sick and nauseated, and riding would make it worse. Just start back on a regular diet slowly, and watch what you eat until you know how you'll react to it. You should feel much better than you're feeling now. A couple weeks and you should be pretty normal again.
