I got an email about my 700 RMK I have for sale on there ...

The person wants to buy th sled sight unseen (which is fine, its in good shape) but claims to be an oceanographer out at sea right now and can't pay me for it any other way than PayPal.

Does this sound "odd" to anyone else ?

That guy must buy a lot of stuff. He emails me every time I list something for sale on there.:hurt:

Dude, thats a full on scam. I sell chit on craigslist and KSL all the time and I always get those emails. Just delete it. Plus, oceanographers don't really ride snowmobiles :face-icon-small-hap

By oceanographer he also means in the marines......:face-icon-small-win Next he will have to arrange for the shipping company to pick it up an he'll need you to assist in helping him get the fee paid. So he will paypal you extra money and you need to do something with western union.

HA......sad thing is that it works. My wife worked at America First Credit Union and had more than was acceptable of people that came in after they realized they had gotten screwed.

SCAM

Usually, "If it sounds to good to be true........it probably is!" Same guy/guys tried to buy my dirt bike that way. I told him that I would love to sell it to him that I was on the road traveling so he just needed to send me a money order/cash and I would have someone arrange to deliver it for no cost.

That oceanographer must make a ton of money because he wants to buy everything I have ever listed on KSL also.

Last fall he wanted my shocks and rear suspension parts for a Ski-Doo, must be building one of a kind machine.

read ksl's warning. it's a scam. they're the same people who list something for a price that is way too good to be true. don't bother responding. there's usually no phone number or contact info.

I responded yesterday that if they would like to call my # to chat about it they were welcome.

Nobody called.

That and it looks to me like a 12 year old is doing the typing, not an "oceanographer".

I've never met an oceanographer from Utah :face-icon-small-sho:face-icon-small-con

I like to string them along, I tell them there will be an extra 5 grand fee for all the hassles, give them a email that doesn't have a pay pal acct linked to it, you will get an email from pay pal saying you got paid, they do a pretty good job of faking the pay pal email. Have fun with them.

CASH ONLY! Had a guy try to buy my boat w/ a money order from Canada. I now tell these scammers to go $%&* themselves.

Yeah, I kept getting more emails.

I just delete them now.

I put in the ad to call me as I wouldnt respond to emails.
