Any XP Turbos out there??

Looking at the oil CPI's and the Tuboboyz as well the kit available from specialty sleds in Edmonton.

I have heard horror stories of breakdowns and blown motors from using a turbo on the ski doo engines. Is the 800R motor a sound platform to turbo? I have 1.5 thou rounout on my crank and lower miles.

Is there a big difference in performance between the three brands? I don't like the fact that CPI uses a oil turbo but it is $4k vs. $6k+

If anybody has a turbo on theirs, I'd love to hear their comments.:beer;:beer;

we have had good luck with the turbo performance kit. I know that there is alot of guys out there that love their kit. everyone up in my neck of the woods love it. last time i was @ bryce's shop they had about 15 sled do there waiting for there turn. including on sick 1200 skidoo that was simply sweet. those guys go all out all the time.

Do you have this fella's contact name or business name?? Turbo Performance??

oh you mean turbo boyz.. K cool. How have the engines held up? How many miles? any concerns or comments? thx!

CPI kit here with no engine problems at all. I have lost an oil line that took out the turbo, but it was my fault.

XP Turbo

Do you have this fella's contact name or business name?? Turbo Performance??

Yes its Turbo Performance at www.turboboyz.net. Josh and Bryce have been great to work with and there kits are great. Anytime we've ever had questions they been there to answer. Like I said when we were there last time there shop was full of sleds and several customers were picking up there sleds and the owner of Octance addiction was there picking his sled up, Give him a call his name is Tyler he seemed like a great guy. Nothing against CPI but there kits just never worked to our level of performance and you want to talk about a mess of lines!!!! You won't be diappointed with turbo performance and there kits. The only failures I know of is that 2 guys tried to run pump gas on a race set up. For the XP's I know that there kits are still running for the 2nd season and they been turboing sleds for several years. I do know that they have kits out there with over 3500 miles I hope this helps you.

I have a turboboyz kit here in Manitoba on the flats and it seems to work good. Great customer service. There numbers are Brice 1 801 807 8046
Josh 1 801 725 1391
If I am ever in the area I will send a message to go riding so you can see it first hand.

I rode a Turbo Boyz XP last weekend. It needed to be fine tuned yet since it was only it's first ride, but that sucker ripped!!! Also looked very very clean. Wish I had one!

Aero for the Xp 53 and 66 models, but they will build you what ever you want.

Good info thx guys.. I was thinking of making my own kit through aerocharger and they told me about turboboyz and that is how I learned of them. Seems like they do good work. I am fairly inclined so I might make my own setup. Not to sure what I'm going to do yet, but I know I don't want an oil turbo. I am pretty familiar with compressor charts as I am an engineer. It seems the aerocharger 53 series is a better match and will operate at a higher percentage of the time in a higher efficiency range than the 66 series. So I am looking at the smaller turbo..

lol I was looking on ebay, you can buy TC's for $150 brand new!! must be real good.... HAHA must be like a Princess Auto Power Fist TC!!... :beer;:beer;

Give turbo performance a call. You should go with a 66. Rode there sled sat afternoon, man it was awesome. This thing flat pulls hard the whole time. Great sled and a couple of good guys. You would be very happy with there set up.

just ran across this thread.Does anyone really have a turbo boyz setup that works.I know someone that had them set his XP up. Never ran at all the first time.Took it back and it kinda ran stocker ran better.Took it back third time and got some and i mean some of his money back...

Have had aero's and now Garrett's. would not trade the garrett for anything .

as far as doo'd not being turbo friendly ??? they are very very turbo friendly.

I personally have a 4 year old rev with an out of the box cpi kit that has run flawlessly since its build ( thank you guys ). and now have 3 more customers that are thrilled with them.
I've done 2 xp'swith 2871's for trail use here in new england states that humiliate the rev cpi kits..LOL( bigger turbo should or its done wrong...LOL)

The only issue with an aero is the unpredictablity of it bearings, they are only fed drips of oil from a wick ( like a candle ) and will eventually fail.
Their only other real weakness is rust, exhaust housing rust from moisture will flake and take out the vanes, just like even a light burndown will and then you get the bill for 1500 to repair it..

Go garrett and even a major blow up and your worst bill to fix is 600 $.
