I'm 36yrs old, laid off from insurance industry and can't get back in without 4yr degrees (unless sales). So I'm back in college seeking double majors in Business Admin Mngmnt (BA) and Health Information Admin (BA). There are defiantly days I think I'm too old for this crap.

I hated school when I had to pay for it, but didn't mind when I got paid for it!

I remember my old man did his MBA (Masters Business Administration) while he was in his 50s. His only regret was that he didn't do it sooner.

I'll be 33 next month. Back in school, full time, after 10 years. Taking my BA in Mechanical Engineering. The computer programming class alone is enough to make me question if I can do this. My chiropractor said theu are just tryin to weed out the weak. Just stick to it. So that's what I'm gonna do.

Pimp, he's right. Stick with it. And suck it up, programming's easy.

Heck I finished my MSEE, just before 40. Took me over 5 years.

And if you question why you are there, drive by the freshman dorm on the first warm day in the spring and you will soon realize college isn't so bad after all.

haha, been there done that, I went back in my late 20's, worked full time and pulled an average of 21 credits a semester for 2 years. Went from a technical degree to an AA and 90% of my BA before a promotion forced me to put it on hold. I have about 16 credits to go and I'll be all done. I could test out of the classes I have left but I don't have the time or drive to study for the tests. If My next promotion is what it's supposed to be I'll finish it then as I won't live out of hotels anymore.

It's tough and luckly I'm single, It would have been nearly impossible if I had a wife and or children to look after.

I'm headed back as soon as I can, will be almost 30 by the time I finish my Mechanical Engineering. I need to do something that can help me get out of the oilfield and work somewhere for more then minimum wage.

If I had it to do over again I'd do ChemE ...

This midstream stuff is a pretty decent job ;)

Congtats and good luck. I went back at 32 and finished at 36. It was tough but worth it. I'm 47 now. Never look back.

HA My wife has never quit going to school. She just finished her BA in finance 10 years ago when we met. Found a management job, but didn't like the pay. Started taking night classes at random then went back full time. Ended up getting her nursing degree. Worked for two years and now she's back for her masters in anesthesia. One year left and she'll be 33. It's been a tough road with a 7 month old baby and her living in another town for school. The PLUS side is she'll make some pretty nice coin when she's finished.

Hard to get your foot in the door without a degree these days. Just buckle down and do it.
