Any one using a Mishimoto radiator temp cap

http://www.mishimoto.com/mishimoto-temperature-gauge-radiator-cap-small.html

I'm having the same problem as most with an EFI bike (12’ KX450)....gas in the oil after the temp drops below 20F.ffice:office" />

I purchased Mishimoto radiator temp cap and ran it for the first time Saturday to better see what the coolant temp runs at. I ended up blocking the front of 1 radiator completely and the other ¾. The temp on the cap was reading 150 at the end of the day. The problem was on Sunday when doing maintenance on the bike I pulled the cap off and noticed that I was missing around ¼ of my coolant (below the fins). With the stock/normal cap the bike has never been low on coolant.

Does anybody have experience with this cap or if this is normal? Any and all input is welcome.

Thanks,

The problem could be in the spring of the mishimoto cap, having a lower temp sping so it opens up earlier thus loosing coolant. Are you running a rad overflow?I know my bike liked to spit out coolant and by the end of the ride, it was down a few ML,I did the old "turkey baster" mod and haven't lost a drop since.

Its because its only a 1.3 bar cap. The KTMs run a 1.8 bar. I run a Mylers 1.6 bar cap. The higher the pressure the higher the boiling point. When i was running my stock 1.1 on the CR it would lose fluid all the time. 1.8 would be better ! The gauge would be cool to have though LOL

No I'm not running a overflow...never had a reason to run one before.

KX450 comes with a 1.3 and that is all I have ever used on (2) 2009 and the new 2012 without losing coolant. I have a Kawasaki 1.8 but have never had to use it.

the way it clamps on is nfg too. have a good look and you can see.

I agree the clamping on this thing sux. It would be great if the cap would hold the correct pressure for a quick look at the coolant temp. Time to send back and get my $65 back.
