I have been using skype to talk to my wife while she is over seas and just thought i would pass this on to those of you that have loved ones that they want to talk to for free using your computer.

Yeah, skype works well. We use it so my little boy can get to know his grandparents.

I just re-read my messed up attempt to write a sentence and i must say that it kinda sucks, but i think you get the point.

I use it at work to keep in touch with other locations. It works great. Much easier than emailing back and forth.

I just wish i had known about it when i was in the military over seas. I spent alot of money on phone cards.

That's rough man.. My girlfriend was only a couple hours away and we were together most weekends. There is a lot to be said about seeing someones face instead of just hearing their voice!

Absolutely... Seeing someones smile is worth so much, you never realize it till you see it, especially, when normally you can't.

I have used skype for at least 3 years... Just started this year with the webcams.. Webcams really stress you internet connection, skype is not something to be done with dial-up.

One note about the webcams, you need pretty good light to get the best quality.. Also, don't worry too much about webcam resolution, you are more limited due to bandwidth and skype limitations then anything else..

I have used it to talk to people in china and burma, and talking with family back home.

I have also been using it for about 3 years now - it was great when I was over in India for work, we also use it when we are on vacation down in Mexico to make calls back to the US.

Haven't done the webcam deal yet - I suppose with the little one we should get that up and running for the grandparents.
