I was riding today and I heard a terrible sound, I thought I blew out a gasket. It turned out the SLP pipe split along the weld.

Do you think SLP will repair it and has this happened to anyone else.

SLP warranty is only good for 60 days, I am about 6 months since date of purchase.

I have an slp pipe on my 09 D8 and has been great. I haven't heard of this happening. I think SLP would warranty something like that because they seem like a good company, and that could only be THEIR fault.

slp splitting

I had that happen on a set of twins on my old edge, Those were LRM pipes(larry rugland) he covered it, he outsourced the welding that year and had a ton come apart, He never made production pipes again because of it. Too bad too, those things made awesome power...I'm sure slp would stand behind them, otherwise just get it welded up, just sucks you'd have to recoat it...You didn't happen to lose the band around the pipe did you? I know they put those on for good reason..

Blew one out on my 700 a few years back - worse then that (whole side) - they replaced the damaged pipe!! Usually very good to deal with!!

Yes, SLP is a great company. Were you running the pipe bands or did they suggest you run a couple of them? They really help alot with noise and pipe life.

We did at least a half a dozen of those last year. They will warranty it but you will need to send them a pic of the other one before and after you destroy it. One of the ones that we destroyed we put in our 500 ton press and kept folding it and pressing it. It ended up a little bugger than a deck of cards. We could have mailed it to them in an envelope.
