any must do's on the axys?

I'm looking for input on some of your lessons learned after a couple seasons with the axys chassis. are there any things that need to be done for reliability (sealing relays), suspension/clutching setup (high altitude w/ fresh snow, venting, etc?

i've tried the search function but it seems the clutching thread is MIA and i'm having a hard time locating axys specific info. for give my ignorance if a lot of the 11-15 pro talk translates to the axys but i haven't done much looking over in that forum.

i appreciate any suggestions you have.

I put 2000 miles on a 16 and have 1500 on my 17 currently.

#1 Clip the track. I know adding weight sucks but just do it. Run the track tight as well. ($150)
#2 Take apart all electrical connections and check for corrosion. If corrosion use electrical contact cleaner. Use dielectric grease on the female sides. Push it into the holes and wipe clean with your finger and plug it back together. Don't get carried away.
#3 A-arm braces. I use the source innovation ones ($200 cdn) they have saved me some bent a arms as I think the engineered failure point is a tad weak.
#4 Replace carbon fibre rear bumper tube with a piece of aluminum (10$)

Optional stuff...


Cork the handwarmers. I used skidoo handwarmer corks and trimmed them up with a knife. I can actually feel my handwarmers now, this winter has been very frigid.

Blowhole and TKI belt drive have helped a ton with belts but I'm very rude to my machine sometimes.
 
To be honest, you dont need to do a thing. Except maybe dielectric grease in the conectors. Are the a arms a little weak? Sure. But i never bent one in the first 500 miles then went to kmod 37. Does the track wear weird? A little, but in 900 miles its not very bad at all. Not enough for me to think i need to go clipping the track.

The one thing id do immediatly if i were to buy a new axys, it wouldnt even leave my dealer without a shock revalve. Its amazing how much better the sled soaks up small and big bumps and jumps.

I noticed on my 17 that almost all the connections had grease in them from the factory. I would still check them all, and then re position the relays so the terminals dont hold water. you want the top of the relay pointing up, wires pointing down. Tape or zip tie into place.

Everything else is optional. Pull the rope and go! Eric
 
I have the assault so my a arms are ok jhurkot got a lot of the weak points on the sled I would add a skid plate {belly pan is just thin and weak} , slp air intake vents {helps on the fluffy deep days} and I have seen a feu bent rails, ice age sells rail stiffeners cheap! but in the end it all adds up to weight. I don't mind it I just want to beat my sled and make it back!! nothing is unbreakable or last for ever but we can take preventive steps to prolong things.. just my 0.02
 
Why not pull the electrical plugs apart, insert heat shrink tubing, and them shrink the tubing with a heat gun? Seems like it would keep the water out and not require messy dielectric grease.
 
its the plug not the wire but some have said to use liquid electric tape after a good cleaning and a small amount of dielectric grease to seal the plug. also moving the plug to a dryer spot to prevent water pooling on it.

Aftermarket / changes.
Tether, address electrical issues (relays), slp can with muff pot mount.

Maintaince:

Keep track tension and belt deflection in spec. Grease rear skid with high quality synthetic every few rides. Grease steering components twice a season.

Ride it... Ride it like you stole it...
 
Just wanted to say thanks for the tips and... Holy $hit this chassis is awesome. Just finished my first break in ride and put 50 miles on her. Never pinned longer than a couple seconds but it sure pulls. Only had one hiccup but after about 10 miles my trail bog at 5850rpms went a way. It was audibly noticable but didn't seem to be a problem off trail.

Next step might be some venting, clutch work and skinz ultra q can as funds allow.
