any drawbacks for a longer intake tube?

going to maybe run a cold CAI thru hood but i need to run a long intake tube for this because of where turbo is sitting and steering and such. Any drawbacks over having to long of an intake tube? thanks.

i wouldn't think so as long as you leave the intake diameter either the same diameter, or go bigger if you can to maintain required flow while minimizing pressure drop across the intake tubing.
i ran a cold(er) air intake for my IQ assault a couple of weekends ago..... not perfect, but better than sucking the crud from my footwell. i put it behind my F'N'I headlight intake.
ps- the zip ties were temporary, got the good stuff on now!

I believe he is talking about the atmosphere intake not the intercooler piping. There is nothing being pressurized in the CAI… As long as the intake tube isn't by any hot parts getting heated up (thus heating the air in the tube) I wouldn't think a long CAI tube would make any difference.

thanks guys. i can actually go larger than the turbo intake so i will run as large as i can up to the turbo intake.

That's pretty sweet looming setup, is that a kit or did u build your own? It looks like your turbo is back wards. Can u show some picks with the sise panel off?

i'll grab some pics when the sun is back out, but thanks! i bought the part s off summit racing ( 3" aluminum intake tube, 3" mishimoto silicone couplers) top that off with a measuring tape and hacksaw, voila!
the turbo is from an older boondocker kit where the intake was in the footwell; it came with the pipe, and i didn't wanna mess with it. nice part is the wastegate actuator is real easy to get at and the exhaust goes out the factory hole.
