I bought a 90' ATK 406 dirtbike out from under a barn this summer and was looking to do a bit of work to it this winter. Does anyone have any experience with these bikes? I got it running and rode it a few times this summer, but never really did much to it, I know the thing is different and is flat out scary fast, but being different, well, no one knows anything about them! Any help would be awesome! Thanks!

same general motor as can-am 370/400.whatever you do don't mess up the kickstarter.cool bikes-what's the matter with it?how many brakes?
I had just heard some guys talking about pulling out a headshim and I was seeing if anyone had heard about this. They run 3 head shims, and a few guys I talked to said I(at 3k and always with 91 octane) could get away with pulling one to bump compression, but, being air-cooled, I'm a little concerned over detonation! Did the 406's have the kick starter problem too? I heard it was the 250's, but you might be right! Yeah it is a VERY cool bike, that's why I'm trying to save it, titanium frame, it does have the A-link drive and the rear brake up on the counter shaft sprocket, air-box on the left side of the tank, I should get some pics up if I could get it to load! But aside from that, I need a spark-arrestor silencer, and help trying to find a seat cover(the seat that runs clear to the top of the tank!) Thanks for any help, looks like a few guys might have some expertise!
