Any Advise On These Mods?

I'm going to tear into the sled this off season and do a few upgrades. I've got a 2009/2010 Nytro MTX with a 180 MCX kit on it. Does anyone have any input on these mods? Good ideas or is there something better? Things to watch out for?

1. Nytro Seat Cover - My stock 09 Nytro seat cover froze, cracked and split open last year. Yamaha wants $200 for a new cover. Are the '10 - '12s better or do they last longer? Should I just get a used seat? Not really looking to spend $500 on an aftermarket seat.

2. Roest Skid Plate - I don't have a skid plate now, but this one seems like a no-brainer.

3. Redline MCX Turbo Header - I'm pretty sure mine is cracked. Should I get an aftermarket, re-weld mine, or get a used one and start over?

4. Rollover valve - My TORS has started acting up, so I'm going to disconnect it and put on the Rollover valve. Seems like another no-brainer.

5. Roest IP Vent - Is it better to go with the vent guage mount or just mount the guage on the steering column? In a rollover situation, is the vent mount good and strong so the vent won't tear off?

6. Straighten Rails - I've got a stock '10 162 suspension which has the kick up on the back section of the rail. I'd like to straighten them if possible. Anyone have any experience with this? Is it worth it or should I just get Ice Ages?

I'd like to save money if possible, but I don't want to have problems down the road. Nothing p1sses me off more than having to do something twice and spending more money that if I would have done it right the first time.

Thanks.

Hey Down

I would also go with a OFT steering relocator as well. There are a few others out there but i went with the fit and finish of OFT. Its a little more but well worth it.

I would not try to straighten your rails and go with ice age rails. It will just weaken them in the end and the chances of getting them both exactly equal is darn near impossible.

Since Yamaha never changes anything would have to imagen that a newer seat is no more durable then then the one you had problems with. You could contact a local upholstry shop to see if they can fix the one you have

I've actually got an OFT steering relocate and a lake effect snow riser already. I agree, the OFT relocate is darn near mandatory for these Nytros.

Anyone else have any experiences or suggestions with the above list of upgrades?

Get an aftermarket seat cover or save up for a mountain mod......they rock

skid plate......yes any kind helps.

100% buy the redline header and save yourself the headache of messing with the header ever again.

A cheap kill switch will save you some money on the ros set up. The roll over kits still have some bugs.

Dont worry about your rail, save your money for a new skid. You will eventually need a new skid anyway. Tipped up helps on the trail but in really deep snow makes little to no difference.

When mounting the gauge in conjunction with the IP Vent, my preference as a mountain rider and most other people as well is to mount it over the vent ,and not on the steering post. It is surprisingly durable, and if it does get bent (which hasn't happened to me yet), it can be straightened.

I just installed a roll over valve/ tether (yamaha one).
It was a really easy install, it took about 2 hours with a few beer and some distractions.
Only tricky thing was finding a big enough drill bit to drill through the instrument panel and mount the tether switch.
Got mine in Canada from my dealer for $180 ish.
Money well spent!
