Antifreeze

07 M6. 1600 miles, all stock. Brought it out of storage 3 weeks ago and saw the antifreeze level was a little lower than normal. Fired it up today and all is normal, except the antifreeze is even lower yet. Bellypan is dry, no leaks on the floor. Did i have a base gasket or an o-ring go bad? thinkin i might have to pull the top end off and have a look. Any other place to look??? Thanks guys, Aaron.

Cooling systems are not a perfect science. Sometimes gaskets get dry and then after you pressure them up again they get wet and start working better again. I'd wait until you run it on snow for a good rip and bring it up to full temperature under a bit of load. Then if you have a leak in your cooling system it will become more apparent. Tearing into the top end won't likely tell you anything more than you can figure out from general observation - that is after you get to run it.

Most likely you have a very small leak at one of the hose clamps where they hook on to the aluminum tubes. All the factory uses are cinch rings and quite often you need to replace them with real hose clamps or re-cinch them.

Possibly a bad O-ring between the head and the jug and your burning it. If it's bad you should be able to pull the Y-pipe and smell it in the pipe.

Looking for coolant in the y-pipe is a good idea. If you have a leaking base gasket or crank case seal it will show up there. Usually if its a o-ring on the head you will pressurize the cooling system and see bubbles in the res when the sleds running.
