Another QD belt

Just lost my first QD belt today at 300 miles. I know another QD belt thread, but trying to get the word out more. Luckily I carry a spare and had just gotten some happy face tools that seemed to work, but still kind of a pain. Don't know how long they r goin to last since the anodize appears to be coming off after one use.

This was just before I removed it. Overall about 6" of cogs missing. The snow was from me putting snow on the exhaust so I could work on it. I was going up a pure powder hill without hitting any tracks along the way. Felt like my clutch belt was getting ready to grenade, but obviously wasnt. The top pulley was sizzling hot though!

I keep hearing about the top pulley getting hot. I can see this if using the brakes quite a abit, but is there an issue with the pads dragging??
The belt/pulley itself doesn't generate any detectable heat.

I wasn't using the brake much. It was a decent pull, the top pulley is a lot closer to the exhaust and it was way hot too. Either way I hope polaris pulls their heads out of their a$$es and gives us a fix.

Both pulleys will get hot if you pull long enough but the top one will get hot if you play in the trees. Open the panel and grab the brake disc on the outside it is okay. Touch the inner hub or top pulley and ouch.
In the tree situation both belt and bottom pulley are luke warm.

Originally I thought the tight belt was the cause but now my deflection is much the same as C3 would recommend cold.

If you haven't ever checked your pulley bolts you may like to. I've retorqued my top one
twice. First time I used blue locktight. Second time I used green high temp.

BTW, what is torque spec for bolts on pulleys? Thanks!

I read 29 ftlbs for the first time but I took it to 35ftlbs the second time because of what the wave washer did to my plating.
