I bought a set of these some time back and had issues getting one of them installed due to a manufacturing flaw- I got in contact with Michael (aka paragadgets) and he fixed me up right away. Rode once with the scratchers at St. Helens (never go to St. Helens to ride!) and backed up on them with no damage... I figured I just got lucky because of the super insane concrete snow that day.
Last week I was out riding and again backed up on my scratchers- went from a hardpacked trail up onto a hill in looser snow, backed up a total of probably 10-15 feet. The scratchers showed zero sign of any bending or other damage from backing up on them. The next day I spun through the dismally thin snow (2-3") down to icy ground on a small hill- the sled started to slide backward and the scratchers actually caught in the ground and kep the sled from sliding. I had to push forward on the rear bumper while my wife hooked them back over the rails- again no damage.
Long story short- Scorchers ice scratchers are built like a brick crap house and come with great customer service to boot- can't go wrong!
