another klim customer going elsewhere

i have had good luck w/ klim gear except their gloves.they just don't hold up well for me.i have gone thru several pairs of their gloves over the years, and finally gave up.
at our snow show this year my wife was going to buy a pair, and was working w/ a klim rep. i told her not to buy them, they don't hold up.the rep asked me why i hadn't sent them back for warranty, i didn't have an answer.anyhow he convinced me to give them another shot and assured me if i had any issues, i would be well taken care of.

so i bought an $85 pr. of the x cross gloves and on the second ride, split a finger tip out and had another issue developing on the nickle.so i sent them back.well i just got a call and they are sending them back and not warrantying them.i usually don't bash companies in a forum, but i feel tricked.:mad:

on a positive note, i was planning on some new pants and a couple new jackets this season,so at least i will make sure klim doesn't get another penny from me.i will shop elsewhere.....mm

You basically state that you had good luck with Klim except for their gloves, and now you're dumping Klim altogether. That seems a bit like tossing the baby out with the bathwater to me...why not just get a different brand of gloves but stick with the other Klim gear that always worked so well for you?

I think he was mad at the fact that the Rep he talked to misrepresented him.
He said Klim would take care of him, and they did not. Now he is mad at the company as a whole and not just their warranty service that doesn't warranty anything.

Your post will be deleted.

I have a pair of the Tog gloves. 2 rides on them so far. Nothing bad to say yet.

On another note, my Klimate jacket and pants still amaze me every ride. All my riding buddies complain about being cold or wet. I'm always warm and dry.

I hope they do not delete any posts. There are always two sides of a story. I am sure someone at Klim could explain why the claim was denied but we may never know. Mayby someone from Klim might read the post and respond privately. If post gets deleted that could never happen.

Most of us agree that Klim makes a great product but everyone has different experience they want to share. I think they should be able too.

I do not own Klim gloves but I do have many other products from Klim that are performing well.

Thats just funny....I see you are from Utah so I'll give you the benefit of the doubt but you have to admit that Snowest has a lot of users that don't ride real hard...to say someone is hard on their gear insinuates they do something different than they were intended for. I have had 3 pairs of Klim gloves and all 3 split within 3-4 rides. Klim warrantied 1 pair and not the rest. I ride hard in the Mountains off trail but I don't do anything that the gloves aren't supposed to be used for. The problem with the Klim gloves is always the stiching in the inner parts of your fingers. That is a defective product, not someone being hard on their gloves. As far as yous lasting so long, either you don't stand up when you ride, you have really small hands, or you're just lucky (just kidding) ;)

Going on my 3rd year on my Klim Tog gloves. I ride in the trees a fair amount, dig in the snow without bothering to get out my shovel, break branches out of my way, been thrown off my sled a number of times... lets just say I am not nice to my gloves, and its not for lack of trying, I would say these gloves have lasted 10X the abuse I ever expected them to and they are literally good as new. So far I have not been able to figure out a way to make these gloves fail:eek::D

As for Rep saying he will take care of him and then denying the warranty claim after 2 rides, that's not right... I would be mad as h311 also...

Something else to consider, being that this is afterall the internet, keep in mind the general rule that for every 10 bad luck stories, you will only ever hear 1 good one... seems people are always quicker to rant than to praise, that's why I make it a personal point to share my good experiences when I am happy.:beer;

I would definitely call your "rep friend" and have a long chat about what is going on...:beer;

Yeah, I get that and even understand the anger. Either Klim didn't live up to it's warranty or the rep misrepresented them.

Try this: If you purchased the gloves with a credit card, if the product fails in 90 days many cards will reimburse you. It's called "purchase protection". Call your CC company and ask if that is a benefit on your card, if you don't know.

Still, if I had great luck with bibs and coats and not good luck with gloves, I'd continue to buy bibs and coats (with a credit card) and just find a different glove mfr. I only punish a manufacturer by not purchasing their products any more if I'm not also hurting myself in the process. IMO, Klim makes very, very good coats and bibs so I don't think I'd write them off over the gloves.

I have mixed feelings about klim, their stuff works great but holy crap they're expensive, and I don't like the fact that it's made in China.
For some reason "quality" and "made in china" usually don't go together.
I personally have had good luck with their gloves but a few buddies haven't. The ones who sent the gloves to klim for warranty themselves were all denied, while the ones who took them back to the dealer were all replaced.
Maybe they (klim) do that on purpose...

Try taking them back to a dealer.

also love my TNA gloves.

Good Luck

have a pair of powercross gloves i bought last year during a ride. so far no complaints but after hearing everybody complain makes me wonder if i should look for some other gloves when i need them.
been thinking about some klim pants but now not sure. might have to go with hmk now

no problem ever with the gloves. i wrench with them on in the snow.
I still havent found any of the new styles to feel as good as the first powercross tyope short goretex glove. i wanted to buy 3 more pairs, but they were discuoninued for some reason. i am still using the old pair I have. I wish i could find a similar goretex warmweather aggressive glove. all the new ones seem too slippery with the inner layer totally moving inside the outer.
