Another Camo X vs Power Claw

Im back on the fence between these two tracks, love both the camo X and love the p-claw

For me:
-the p-claw seems to be the ticket for 10lb and lower...but it also works at 13lbs no problem
- camo x is safer going down hill, while the claw makes it hairy and too fast
- trenching with the camo X is the big reason id love to get away from this track, while the claw glides and floats on top even when crawling (this is when the X would/will dig straight down in the blink of an eye)

so my next track will be on a:
1- 2008 M8 Twisted RG pushing 13-16lbs
2- Kmod rear
2- zero pros up front

i know what i saw with my own eyes last year, and im differently leaning toward the p-claw......even at 13lbs or more i believe its the better track, although im still worried about durability

this year was an exceptional dry deep snow year for me and I love the PC gets on top stays on top,, was able to ride longer with out trenching and digging,, and as I am old I don't want to use my shovel and if the X is faster on set up snow OK!!! Going down hill seems the same to me as the stock polaris track ,, you go up the hill at 60mph ,,go down at 60 LOL

Ill be running both. Ill run the CX on the n/a sled where it works so good and digs making the sled wheelie! Makes that sled feel awesome!

On the quality deep days where the PC works so good at getting on top and floating. Ill use it on the boosted sled where I don't need the wheelie hookup, I just want to float to the top!

CX on lower hp sled = more wheelie more fun!
PC on higher hp sled = less wheelie more float!

Interesting......do you think the PC can hold it's own with M1000 at 12-14? I had a maverick on it and it seemed to work really well in the deep...I put a CX on it and although it was cut down to 2.25, it felt like it was more of a trencher(didnt' get much time on it this last year).

The PC only comes in a 2.25" lug right? The CX 2.5" right now, hopefully a 3" by fall? I do like the deeper lug idea, but compared to the PC in deep, doesn't sound like height of lug doesn't matter as much?

I need a new track so I'm kind of in the same boat, but was thinking of throwing the maverick back on. :face-icon-small-con

I don't know about all PC's but I have abused mine with 2000 miles and no lugs missing. there where many uncovered (cleaned off) rocks 2" branches ripped apart and stumps bounced over. The only thing I've noticed is it feels more like a 70 duro now and a few small slices at the bottom of the lugs. I don't know how many times I just knew there was lugs missing and it never lost any. My dealer has a apex on 14lbs with a pc and I don't think you could pay him to remove it, makes equal apex's look silly.

I know what you are saying about the durability of the PC. Buddy ran over a small busted off tree burried in the snow and snapped his track in half like a rubberband. However the PC is lighter and works without question better in the deep dry powder. It's a tough call, I guess it all comes down to which conditions you see most in your riding area. I have ran both tracks as well, and they each have their own strong points. I am sticking with the PC for now. JMO.

Smoothdawg...how do you think other tracks would have handled the tree that snapped his track ?

I have seen other PC get torn up from tree's also, Mine works like a wood chipper, makes me wonder if they didn't change something along the way on how they are built. I know I heard a lot more problems with the 2010 PC than I did in 09.

Its a new track that gets alot of hype, probably more than any track released in a long time. It makes sense that there would be more haters too.

Mountainhorse, it's hard to say for sure but I think the single ply PC attributed to the track popping. I could only speculate that the CE may have been only harpooned by the small tree. I say this because 2 years ago I was riding on the side of the road up by the Yak river where a road grader had leveled off a 6 feet wide by 4 feet or so high bench on the side of the road. I was riding along fine when at the last minute I saw what was the top 6 inches of a metal fence post [white top of course] 3 feet in front of me. I was going like 25mph so stopping was not an option. I ran over the fence post and it naturally harpooned the track and pulled it all of the way out of the ground. This is with the CE track. I eventually changed the track out for a new one but my point is it did not pop like the PC did. I got a couple more rides out of it. My buddy was obviously done for the day. We had a heck of a time getting his sled down to the trail with no track wich equals no brakes!!! Fun times. Just my experience.

Hey there I'm new to sledding, will the power claw hold up to the turbo or will the turbo rip it up ? I have a 2008 M1000 153" Snow Pro weird huh. I plan on upgrading to a 162 power claw and i really want to turbo my sled I'm just not don't researching yet.

Thanks
