Is amsoil worth it to run in a 2006 Dodge Diesel, or is Rotella better?

i would and do run rotella. i have however been considering a switch to valvoline premium blue synthetic. but for now i like regular rotella 15w-40 dino oil.

If your turbo is oil cooled, the amsoil is a plus for cooling

Example, air cooled motorcycle 4 cylinder engine idling for 20 minutes while syncronizing carbs, mineral oil in the crankcase will see oil temps around 260 to 280 or better degrees

Same engine, same runtime etc... with amsoil will see oil temps in the 180 to 200 degree range.

Wish I had some turbo oil temp spec info for you to pass along

I see the amsoil is also formulated for 2007 and newer diesel emission specs

Their Premium Diesel oil is, they also have synthetic oil for the pre-engine choking, power robbing emission years.

Read about it on their website, check out the diesel forums and see how many people are using it, there's getting to be more and more all the time.

PM if your interested in buying at dealer cost.

Thanks I already am a dealer for amsoil but never tried it in my truck my sales rep talked me into it the other day, is the engine cleaner safe to use, they claim 25000 miles between oil changes I think that is a bit long most I go now is 5000 miles
This is why I love snowest you can always count on other sw'ers for input and help!!

I've ran DELO in Dillon, but ams in the sled. Of course Argenta might have different climatic conditions than Dillon.:)

I have been running AMSOIL in my powerstroke at 20k change intervals and havent had any problems

^^^^

Exactly,

I change my oil ONCE a year and usually its 20k miles is all on the truck. I also pull an oil sample and it always says "for continued use"

I cant believe if you are a dealer you have not read up on these results in your monthly newsletter. Heck I have several commercial acocunts that only change there oil in the semis at 50k and there results are the same. They know its good to 100k since but just cant put there faith that far out.

**Edit btw, one of my diesel cars that runs on WVO gets the same once a year treatment and it just rolled 200k and doesnt use a drop of oil.

Do you see these sort of gains in gas motors as well? I am using Mobil 1 full syn right now...is amsoil really worth it for gas? is any synthetic really worth it for gas?

Yes you have alot of non-belivers but apparently you see the result of lower tempatures and your tranny and yet you still wont run it in your motor?

I worked the Amsoil booth at Sturgis this year and it amazes me how many people come up with 4-6 buddies, one guy will start asking questions and he says "all my buddies run it and they try to get me to, but I just like this Harley oil". If it's okay for your buddies to run and they are all running cooler and longer on oil changes........... ?????

Rule of thumb is you can go 3 times your factory reccomended oil change interval. So yes it is a benefit not to mention the quality of oil is so much higher with ANY synthetic. I just happen to be prone to Ams.

If your talking about motorcycles than this will tell you everything you want to know. I can't tell you how many people we had come by the booth that were currently running their 20/50 and said they noticed a 15-20 degree drop in engine temps.

If your looking for additional info other than what they have listed on each individual product, don't hesitate to call (I prefer email so it gets in the right hands) their tech line and ask for some comparative charts or whatever it is your looking for, they have more literature available on the tests being done than you could imagine and the guys in the tech department aren't just some slumps off the street reading their brochure to you.
