has anyone exp. problems with amsoil dominator? i have a problem that when i mix my oil and gas/c12 mixture it like gels up at the bottom of my tank. causes a bunch of problems, goes through carbs and plugs everything up. i have cleaned old oil/gas mix out before using amsoil to limit the amount of new mixing with old. if not i guess ill go back to using my old torco sos oil.

Snake oil. Go to the Polaris section and read up what indydan is posting, has great knowledge of it.

Not sure about Ams. Dominator, but I've never seen that with Interceptor. I'm running just under 50/50 VP C12 and 91 octane pump gas, premixing at 40:1. Ran the same oil with straight C12 in my 440 racer. Never had a problem with dropout. Do you get your gas from one station, or does it happen with all blends?

I was running about 25% c12 with 91 octane same gas i have always ran. only difference this year is the oil. never had a problem last year with the oil i was running. only reason i switched was that torco was kinda hard to find.

I have used Amsoil Interceptor oil in all our sleds and dirt bikes for many years with zero problems. At tear-down for yearly ring maintenance on my KTM 300, the piston, cylinder, and head are always very clean, with little wear. This is always with 91 octane pump fuel. I have never lost a rod or crank either.

Synthetic oils actually begin with a petroleum base, they just have more additives if I understand it correctly.

This isn't true. Amsoil does sell blended oil, but a true syn is just that.

I'm thinking that if any oil gelled up in your fuel tank there is something in the tank, or something got mixed in. Sure a buddy isn't pulling your leg? B

True synthetic oil is derived from synthetic base stock, not petroleum.

If it's "snake oil" then there are millions of gallons that must have been formulated wrong that have not caused any problems in the millions of sleds it's been put into since 1971.

From the Amsoil website regarding Dominator - Not suitable for use with alcohol or nitro-methane fuels.. I don't have any experience with the problem your having but it could be related to the C12/dominator mix. Dominator does lack some of the additives normal oils have that prevent rust, that's why the don't recommend it for long term use and label it as "racing oil".

Don't be afraid to call the Tech dept. They may have some insight to the problem. Has the jug you used been sitting on a shelf for a long time?

I had the same thing happen in a boat one time, I was using Pennzoil 2-stroke outboard oil and blew er up. The shop that rebuilt it said that the oil was "balled up" in the gas and plugged some of the ports in the carbs.

EDIT: OMG---- I found myself in another oil thread, I said I'd never do that again!!!!

yeah i was thinking that the c12 is the problem since it was the last 2.5gal the shop had there. used the same oil in my wife dirtbike with zero problems. i should have known better to buy from that shop as well too.

Gels up

I have seen this very same thing about 4 years ago. Looks like jello in the bottom and will not mix.
