Amsoil Interseptor??

I ran interceptor because I could get it for $20 a gallon. I had no problems. I would not run blue marble. I have heard way worse about it

I have run the Amsoil Interceptor for years now and never had a problem, other than as of this new year the price around here (Calgary) has jumped up about 40+ % so I will probobally swich to something else.

Don't know where you heard bad things about it, good oil and keeps everything nice and clean. The price is getting a bit high on it now.

I see 5 or 6 sleds a year come in with the exhaust valves so stuck they must be removed with a pry bar.. every single time, they have amsoil in the tank...
These are cats on the east coast so your milage may vary

i have no troubles running intercepter. i like the dominator oil better tho. use that in sleds, atv, chainsaw, and weedwackers.

After 3 decades of building engines, stock and performance It means something when I approve an oil.

A mention was made of Amsoil in the tank on sleds with stuck power valves.... I haven't seen it

I refreshed over 2 dozen motors this year that I built in the past. Not because they needed it, because many had over 3000 problem free miles on them... Running Amsoil. VERY LOW CYLINDER WEAR

I don't stock this oil just because it is a brand to sell. I have it because I like what it does for my customers engines, performance wise and reliability wise.

Take it from one of the nation's top Honda Techs (me) it is excellent oil

go ahead... hammer away at me

Well I guess my gummed up power valves were from the oil I used prior to using Interceptor.. like 1/2 season later... I would rather use dominator.

Mine were so gummed up, I had to take the rubber boots off of the Rave valves, and clean up the inside... boy I had fun putting the spring back on...

LOL, I changed my post just a little. I just had an arguement with a guy on another site and was pizzed when I came on here and seen it getting bashed.

Honestly, I have not seen gummed power valves from running it

LMAO

I got a negative rep off this thread

02-15-2009 11:21 PM4-strokes are different than 2-strokes so being an engine rebuilder of those does not apply

Yes sir.... I always run 2 stroke oil in 4 strokes.... recommend it to everyone !

J/K

Lemme see here how many years has it been since Honda produced 2 strokes with power valves ? Probably longer than the person giving me the rep has been alive .... LOL

OK to make everyone happy

DON'T use AMSOIL INTERCEPTOR.... It's junk
Especially don't run it in a 4 stroke

BTW, We have a fun run here real soon, I donated 4 gallons of Dominator as individual prizes to the club putting it on

I guess I deserved that negative rep for supporting SNOWMOBILING

Why do us businesses even sponsor this sport with report back like that ?

Thanks

Well, BY GOD Gimster, you should get a bad rep just for thinking that one of the most popular and oldest producer of synthetic oils puts out a quality product! I've been running amsoil since it first came out and have never lost an engine or since the introduction of power valves, stuck one. I guess I should try a 20/1 mix rate and see if I can duplicate the problems with valves sticking.

I have seen a sled motor set up to run 10 different top of the line oils. Each oil had a quick switch valve so you could run it for 60 seconds at WOT then record head temps etc. Once motor ran each oil the head was removed and layed in front of the appropriate oil. At the end of the test Ams was the ONLY oil that showed zero carbon build up on bottom of head. You would be surprised how thick of carbon was built up with some brand name oils. As for temps you could be at WOT on brand X oil with a head temp of 475 degrees then switch valve over to Ams and watch the temp start to decrease.

SEEN it with my own eyes fellas......NO BS!

BTW, the ONLY thing I have ever heard about Amsoil being bad was the fact it runs SO clean that during summer months you wont have that build up of slime covering your internals and that will allow rust to start. Best thing to do to fix this. FOG YOUR MOTOR.

I won't use the junk in my weedwacker.

i feel the same way... never had mechanical problems from it, but i like a clean engine and this does not burn clean... exhaust and heads get all carboned up, and evs are constantly dirty... lots have luck with it i never did... been running blue marble for 4 yrs now no issues and no carbon buildup
