America passes a milestone

Not one to enjoy, for the first time government workers in America outnumber the manufacturing and constructiion sector, more suckers at the teet than producers. Swampy:eek::mad:

You teach people how to treat you and we, as a country, need to rethink the message we are sending!

Curious, does manufacturing and construction + government = all payrolls? I don't think it does. Haven't we been in a war? Don't they cost a lot of money? Doesn't the govt pay for it?

Kind of interesting that the graph shows that manufacturing and construction haven't really changed much since the 70's. I thought we have lost a lot of manufacturing jobs to overseas?? I would have expected the graph for manufacturing and construction to be declining.

Anyone else think that?

As with anything like this, you have to question where it came from. I would guess that construction and manufacturing should be going down based on manufacturing yes. Construction would be the offsetting factor on that line, maybe they chose the two because it gave them the best baseline to compare to rising government.

The private sector finds ways to be more efficent and have less people to do the job. Think about the old days buiding a house. Hammer a nails. It would take alot more time, sometimes years to build one. Now with power tools the job can be done in a month.

Government does just the opposite. New programs to manage old programs. ugh

As for the graph. I don't know how right it is but I do know Government is bigger than ever. I bet if we knew what tax money was spent on we would be green.

Sorry Ruffy I quess you need some URL's. Swampy

Interesting article on the subject..

Big government gets bigger..

Swampy, your grandfather site has some sketchy information, or rather draws conclusions from sketchy comparisons. I would be wary of using some of the conclusions they make. Though the govt employee per capita is an interesting figure.

If that is where you get your information, then you should, shouldn't you? I mean, you do care if what your are fed is the truth or bs don't you? Or does it not matter as long as it aligns with your point of view?

I don't think they are out of control, they are doing exactly what we let them do. I think we are out of control for letting them get away with it. Don't worry, we will elect them all again, because we don't want them dang (liberals / conservatives) getting anymore power then they already have...
