Am I really the 1st one to think of this?

I have to wonder as to why the brakes don't automatically engage when you break from your tether? It would save hundreds of ghost ridden sleds shooting into the trees with their owners watching helplessly. It would be an easy design to connect to the brake system. Any good reasons why not to have this technology on every sled made???

THere used to be a company that had a spring loaded break handle with a tether. When you pulled the tether it pulled a pin and released the tension on the spring and applied the brakes. It didnt lock the brakes just applied em enough to slow the sled down.

THey had a booth ath the snowest expo probably 10-12 years ago. Haven't seen tehm since.

yep, something like that only I think it would be a good idea to have the system incorperated into all stock sleds. Have one tether kill the engine and apply the brakes. Sure would save a lot of sleds from trees. Only down side I see is it your standing and accidentally pull the tether. This type of system should come standard on all brands for mountain sleds.

It becomes an issue when your hillclimbing (and i've seen this happen) the tether pulls out on accident when your making an adjustment and the sled shuts off causing the sled to get stuck or start going back down the hill backwards which never leads to a good thing. If the tether had a longer pull and maybe slightly tighter hold it would probably work. Think about the vids of the pros flying from one side of the sled to the other and hanging way off the sled when riding, its gotta hold up to those types of moves because you know we all try to attempt it! :face-icon-small-ton

Sounds like a good idea. But, I see if functioning as an eject lever more than a sled saver...
What would be more entertaining? Watching: a helpless rider get ready for his snowmobile insurance claim or......
