Aluma front ramps?

For those who own Aluma open trailers with the factory front ramps, I got a question.

Do you guys just drop the ramps down and drive right off or do any of you carry the loading ramp around and use that to go off of instead of the ramp/shields? I was talking with a friend on how to adapt my front ramps to make them functional again (I have plexi glass on them to keep the sleds clean, so I dont want to break it out) and he noticed that the ramp fits perfectly into the grove on top of the fold down ramp with the way the hinges are designed.

Is that there for that reason, or was it just dumb luck that they will work together?

I dont have a pic of it with the ramp out front, all I have is of the whole trailer.

Guess I'm just wondering if anyone else does it or not? Thanks for any opinions.:beer;

I have an open 16' Aluma. I do use the drop down ramps, but yes the loading ramp also works because some folks do not get the drop down ramps and just carry the ramp to whatever spot they need it.

Out of curiosity, did you notice any drop in gas milage after adding the plexiglass? I think you had a great idea there!

If it was my trailer (I really wish it was) I would just add the plywood to the one side and more diamond plate on the other side then put ski runners on the it.

The issue with adding plywood and diamond plate over the entire ramp is that it blocks all of the rearward view. I like open trailers for the ability to see behind the rig in the rearview mirror...makes lane changes easier and seeing your load. I also haul my ice fishing house sometimes and like being able to keep an eye on things back there.

Ya, I always knew the ramps are an option from the factory, so they are setup to be used with the seperate ramp, I just didn't realize they were designed to work together, kinda neat actually.

Thanks! I really didn't notice a big drop in gas mileage, but I tow the trailer with my Expedition (actually does an awesome job for such a huge trailer) and the plexi-d area is directly behind the rig, so its no much of an airflow disruption. The last "bay" on the outside is left open so there is no chance of it being blocked by ice/frost/snow.
