Altimeter not reading right

went out the other day and my altimeter read about 1600' which was right. Then I went to the mountains and it was reading 790'. Can you do a reset on these or should I take it back to the dealer?

You can do a reset, but you will need a GPS or know exactly what the altitude is in order to reset the altimeter.

Ok, hubby was driving and I decided to read my new owner's manual on the way to the hill with my new sled.

my speedo is doing all sorts of goofy things. The altimeter never works even after 5 calibrations... I have told my dealer about it, and he won't do anything about it. I paid for that damn altimeter, and i want it to work correctly!

I recommend that you try another dealer. I searched for a good one before I bought. I only have an 80 mile drive to my dealer instead of a 5 mile, but I know the service will be worth it.

Make shure that you did not accidently change from standard to metric. My wife was playing with hers and changed it on accident. Just something to check.

It uses barametric pressure to guess altitude meaning you will have to set it almost every ride because temp/humidity effect it.

Barametric pressure changes hourly and cannot be calibrated.
Hg for U.S. Americans will be displayed in feet.
Mb for the rest of the world will be displayed in Meters
