Alternative Belts

Lots of experimenting and testing going on now from a number of parties. When definitive results are found they will start getting posted. It's not a short process.

belt

The xs822 has been working good for me. I think I got a couple of bad 082 cat belts, as the center t center varied 3/8ths of an inch between them. Just my 2 cents. I am running the evo reflash with all the other evo goodies and the 3" camo extreme, mds weights, and bdx helix, and everything seems good now. Clutch runs a lot cooler since switching belts, also.

I'm putting my money on the 048 belt! On paper it makes sense. On the sled the 082 is to short. If your looking to squeeze out all the speed you can the looser belt is going to not get you that as the overdrive might not be as good. Or at full shift. But should keep the belt cooler and free from power snap.

Also I expect that clutch bushings will last longer without the extreme load involved with a belt that is to short.

Someone with a cad program should be able to figure the math on what length belt would be at full shift. I am assuming the 082 is having to stretch a lot.

I was looking at the Cat 048 as well. That 46.98 length should be spot on. I see Cat lists it for the 07 T660. Is this belt going to be beefy enough? Hope so!

Also, playing with my clutches, and avoiding math at all cost, I am concerned that a belt much over 47" could run up too far on the primary. An ole sled racing guru I know also warned of this. Granted this would probably be moe of an iaaue with flatland and lake racing.
