Alternate skis or modding the Gripper

Interested in playing around with the skis and the position on the PRO. Wanted to get some feedback before I started. I am coming off of about 200 days of riding the M chassis and considered myself a pretty decent rider on that chassis, and one of the things I have noticed is when in a hard countersteer on the PRO, the inside ski catches every so often and jerks my arms and as a result I dont relax as much as I could or should when on a nasty sidehill that if kicked off of could result in the sled being totalled :face-icon-small-ton So at the end of the day from my shoulders to my hands are pumped and sore from hanging on too damn tight. Has anyone else noticed this? And if so, what have you done to remedy it? I was considering trying some different ski options or modding the Gripper by cutting down the outside back of the ski at an approximate 30 degree angle. I have yet to make the ski position narrower (or wider) then the middle position but I am moving them to the narrow position for saturday's ride. Any thoughts or experience with this issue would be appreciated. Thanks!

I had trouble with the stock ski. Didn't like what they felt like when side hilling. Put on Powder Pro's with out and cutting and I like them so far.
 
i only have ridden my pro w/ slp pp's.

i have to see if i can narrow up the skis still (not original owner, so not sure where its set).

i may also do a cut on the pp's for late season riding.


i'd suggest the 'narrow' option, and then/also cut the stockers before trying aftermarket. its free to work w/ the stockers after all.

I read your other thread, thanks. I do see the logic. My only concern is in deep pow especially when lifting the throttle and the front end dives. Have you seen any issues? Thanks for taking the time to post your comments/results and of course for hacking up your skis :face-icon-small-coo

i am liking it so far.. lol the last 1200 miles!!

love them. no more tugging at your arms when going thru old tracks on a side hill and the to and from the deep stuff is not even comparable. would never settle for the stock skiis again.
 
My finding were as follows: first thing I noticed early in the morning part of the ride when the snow was dry and powdery was when I was coming down hill the sled dipped easier to the low side (I.E. the sled dipped into holes in the terrain on the low side easier so I had to keep on my toes about this a little more). The second thing I noticed was that as the day progressed, temperatures rose, and the snow got wetter and thicker, the ski cut really started to shine. The cutting into a sidehill was effortless in thick chewy snow. This will definitely be the new ski of choice for Spring. :nod:

Well i havn't had any over bars yet if that what your asking..

Mostly just like stock but the front of the ski well try to come up to to the first.. i was jumping beaver huts.. this weekend. didn't have a issue if u need to turn or stop just let off.. if you want to land and wheelie ... Hold the Gas!
