Alright, WTF???? ,,,,,,,,,, REI?????????

^^^Don't sweat it CR. I opened the Earth Share site to see what Snow West want to sell me.

Ha Ha Ha......money talks I guess.

polaris dude's logic is bizarre to say the least. Just cause I am reading their web site does not mean that I support them.:face-icon-small-con

Gotta say I like their stores... I just bought some things that simple didn't have the boxes for them and things like that for 60-80% off. i bought myself a new shell, beacon (tracker 2), and a avalung (the simple strap one) for all under $150.

Honestly I really like their stores. They have lots of good products that work GREAT in the snowmobiling world. Ps. I didn't even notice their ad. Still haven't even after this post

Guys advertising is targeted based on your cookies, essentially what websites you have visited and viewed.

For example I visit the Indian motorcycle website, I get an add for Indian. I visit revzilla and on another website I get adds for the exact product I was browsing.

Clear your cookies and the adds will get generic, leave them and they will get hyper relevant.

As was noted by one of the moderators the website bean counters sold a space and that space puts up adds that appear relevant to the browser.

While I understand the frustration look at it as those earth first people are funding our website, we know we aren't funding them.

I looked at The Indian Ad and ordered info so as to build the ultimate snowbike !!!
when you get tired of all the greenie ads clear your cookies and browse something else
victorias secret etc...ads are much better although it interferes with your chatting!!
When wife asks...just tell her your shopping!!!

I'm not so sure :/

I haven't visited an Indian site, but as I'm following this post I look at the top to see what's up there, and low and behold there is an Indian ad. Hmmmmmmm

Maybe it's taking text from the post itself, because I don't know how my cache would have done that.

A tracker 2 Beacon for under $150 bucks? That is unheard of, and severaly again MAP pricing from BCA. But if you did, congrats. We get yelled at all the time for selling them 10% off. Mystified.

Their stores used to be OK. Some time ago. Trust me, they would be all over banning sledding everywhere if they had their way. I used to live down the street from their HQ's south of Seattle.

I will buy my stuff from people that support our sport, not fight it. Another company I will never buy anything from is Marmot. They support banning any kind of vehicle (from jeeps to sleds to bicycles, etc) in all of Southern Utah. That would destroy the economy's in all those towns.

REI's prices are too high anyway. Let them waste money on web advertising but they will never get another dime from me.

That would explain why I keep getting ads for largebreastedcocktailwaitresses.com

Can't denie I was shocked too. They had a bunch of stuff without a box such as the tracker 2 didn't have a box and didn't have batteries. Just stuff like that so I wouldn't technically say its a "sale". Anyways I don't like to see a company or brand that doesn't support snowmobiling on a snowmobiling website, but we (snowest) have to pay the bills somehow and personally I could care less if any brand has an ad on a website.

The fact that people whine about ads, rather than take 10 seconds to put an adblocker on seems really silly.

If you're paying for this site with your membership dollars, why should you be forced to have the adds steal your screen space & slow page loads?

Sorry... back to whining about who's stupid advertizement is on the page...:face-icon-small-dis

Do the ad blockers work on your signature? Oh snap...I have one too.

There is a catch 22 to that too Kaleb. When companies see that everybody starts using ad-blockers, why would we participate and invest money to be a part of the sport. This site does not exist without advertising dollars. The only place we would then be visible on sites like this would be within the forum. I have tracked our views within the forum vs. actual clicks and views of ads, and it is not even comparable. And we would like to think we are one of the most active companies on here….

Not saying that we would not want to be a part of the community if everybody used ad blockers, but it sure is discouraging….

If there were only site specific ads, and banners, not sure why you would want to have them blocked in the first place, after all they would pertain to exactly what the site was designed for. The promotion and community within sledders.

Just our .02

This is true, but I thought when you got a membership there was not supposed to be any advertisements. Wasn't that the deal or am I mistaken?

Thats the way I understand it and that also has lot to do with how my company decides on how to support SW.

Whats the real story?
