almost decided but need some more help

Ok, I pretty much made up my mind on the polaris, but I'm struggling between the 2012 RMK assault or the pro RMK 155 both in snow check. I prefer the colors options of the pro but I like the suspension of the assault. The thing is I live in Quebec for now (might change anytime) and we don't have the biggest mountains here I actually call it hills but they call it mountains lol. We didn't receive much powder in the last 2 winter but there is still very nice places to ride. The salesman I talk too is sold assault that's actually what he is ordering and he keep saying that would be my best choice. I know I'll be doing some jumps and drops when I find them and with the conditions here the assault track wouldn't be a problem at all. But sometime I'm wondering is going with the pro and putting an assault track on it would be a good choice.

Anyway you can see I'm a bit confused between which one to order and when paying that amount of money I like to make the perfect choice for the usage I'll do of it.

They are practically the same sled, you can easily turn the Pro RMK into a Assault and you can easily turn the Assault into a RMK. The Assault has wider A-Arms,1 extra suspension brace and different shocks. So you cant really go wrong either way, maybe get a RMK and put your own aftermarket shocks of choice on? Or an Assault and put stronger Holz RMK width A-Arms on?

I have an 11' assault. It would do great with what you are describing, it doesn't come with a sway bar though, but I could care less. The suspension is great, you just have to make adjustments in very small increments. The track isn't as bad as some make it out to be. It does dig deep quick but the machine is so light it usually isn't an issue

Doesn't the Assault have a front cooler where the PRO does not?

If you ride deeper snow, I would get the RMK because of the softer track.

If you ride harder snow, I would get the Assault with the stiffer track.

Big difference in the wide and narrow front ends? Its the only thing holding me up on making a decision

Stock polaris a-arms have folded up pretty easy on hard hits..complete set of holz arms isnt that expensive, and they will hold up to hard hits..so I wouldnt let the width affect my choice, pic the sled you want, and if you dont like the frt end, change it(you might change it anyway )

2 1/2 inches when set the same is a difference but personally I don't think it's huge when riding deep powder. I've ridden with both wide and narrow front ends in deep powder, the key is just getting use to your sled with seat time.

I don't think so. Lots of guys ride there rmk's on the widest setting which is the same as the narrowest setting on the assault. plus if you find you don't like the wider setup it doesn't cost much to uprgade to aftermarket narrower arm.

'12 Asaults have a choice between 5.1 and the stiffer track. I would go with the Asault personally (between 155's). I chose the Pro 163" and wish I had the stiffer shocks for the occasional "big" (according to me:face-icon-small-hap) hits. I think the softer track would be ok in set up snow conditions if mostly riding in pow.
