For the first time in many many years I bought a summer toy.

I read your question and was trying to decide if when you ask me why I decided on that if you meant a car as opposed to a different summer toy or more specifically the Challenger????

I really like the look of the Challenger. I like the performance. I like the comfort for road trips.

In my life I have owned 3 Plymouth Cuda's. I do really love the body style. When I decided to buy a car again I looked at a bunch of different cars but decided the Challenger was for me.

Now slap a set of Blizzac tires on her and hook up a single sled trailer and post a pic next winter!!

Nice ride, but the title of this thread lead me to believe that you got a summer toy that emulates a sled. For example, this is my summer ride:

I thought about an off road vehicle like a 4 wheeler or side by side but its been pickups and snowmobiles and one 4 wheeler for the last 15 years and I decided I really wanted a car again.

I have a friend that takes his watercraft out on Lake Superior when the waves are really rolling and that looks like a blast. Only been on a watercraft once on a small lake it was pretty fun.

Dodge does such a fantastic job on the Challenger.
When they first came out you had to do a double take to see if it was a new one or a restored one. That's the ultimate compliment.

Now if they would take that concept and apply it to the '68-'70 body Charger, I would be ready to buy my first new vehicle in 20 years!

I agree. I was so disappointed to see the charger reborn as a 4 door only. As a kid I remember many cars were sold With a 2 door and a 4 door model.

I feel that I am part of a dying breed of car enthusiast that likes big 2 door cars with manual transmission. Growing up my dad had big Pontiac and Plymouth 2 door cars. Now days the choices of a coupe or a large 2 door cars is pretty slim.

A modern B body Charger would be bad ***.

Ewwww. That super bird is horrid looking.
Challenger is easily one of the best looking cars this decade and Dodge doesn't F ck around with horsepower! (Not that everyone doesn't have have 400 hp sedans and coupes, but no one has a 400hp as their 3rd fastest option!)
Nicely done!

One big error with that super bird: the front is aligned....no crooked edges or fiberglass sticking out over the fenders:face-icon-small-hap:face-icon-small-hap
Other than that: I think it's cool

I like that. That looks like a factory model that could roll out tomorrow.

I love it!. Nice post. Mopar and I go back a long way.
In 1973 I had a 1962 Plymouth 383 with elephant ears headers. They were rare back then. I hope your friend knows what he's doing on lake superior. The lake never gives up its dead. Anyway I love your ride!

The challengers can look great, I just hate how huge and heavy they are. I prefer a more nimble toy car, but it would make a sweet straight line and cruising machine.

Your right, I lived in the Duluth Area for 10 years and that lake is unforgiving and never gives up it's dead as you pointed out.

I drove other cars but had pretty much had my heart set on a challenger. I knew it would be a car I would take on trips and burn around town with some nice winding roads thrown in on a regular basis.

I the 2 months I've owned it I have 3,100 miles on it and there's not a single day that I have driven it to work. I just drove 800 miles to Kansas for a wedding and the Challenger is a fantastic car for a road trip! :face-icon-small-hap

To each their own

I must be the exception; anything Chrysler / Dodge, just makes me puke in my mouth. I'll definitely never own anything Chrysler / Dodge.

The last thing they made that I'd even consider are the 1940's Power wagons, but that would be just the sheetmetal body, the entire powertrain would get deleted and resourced.
