albion idaho should be good riding this week end

Whats the terrain like around there, I saw a picture in SnoWest that looked nice, and I know they got alot of snow this year.

You saw a picture of Albion, ID in Snowest? Albion is a one road town on the way up to Pomerelle Ski Resort in Cassia County. The main sledding is in Lake Clevend and around it's rim. Riding is limited to a few square miles, but has something for everyone, we usually go there for a quick test trip or to play with the kids.

There is a great steakhouse, don't know about the 60 oz.

I worked in Burley around 1985 at the radio shop there. Worked with Jim McBride(?) from Oakley. I remember that they had a steak house in Albion that had a huge steak and if you could eat it, it was free. Good burgers after skiing....

Jim Mcbride lives about a mile from me, his boys worked for me during High School. I have never eaten in Albion, I'm always running late for something after playing too long on the hill....

It was last year I think, there was a nice shot of some snow covered hills with absolutely zero trees in sight, it said it was near Albion, ID. That was the first and only time ive heard of Albion. I did discover that Pomerelle is near there earlier this winter from reading ski area snow depths. It sure looked good in the picture.

Plenty of trees and rocks for everyone, I will get some pics up a little later.

Is that restaurant still there that has the 60 oz steak or something like that?

That was the Anny Laure inn and it burnt down sometime in the early 90's i believe but ya cant go wrong at the sage mountain grill :D. There is some great riding up there and when the snow is good you can drop off south of thomson's flat but not on epic powder days as its pretty tuff to get back up. Lots of peeps drop down to the lake and climb the chutes outta the lake. you just have to be real prepared to ride up there. you ride it enough ya end up spending the night a few times.

Here is a few pic from a ride we did up there last year http://www.snowest.com/forum/showthread.php?t=46270&highlight=Howell+canyon

here is some more pics of pomerelle
