Alaska Guys

It looks like I will be getting an all expense paid trip to Deadhorse in a couple of weeks. Is it as nice as it sounds???

You can't beat it!

Deadhorse.....
Can't beat it...
Can't beat a deadhorse......
Whew Nelly! That's a pretty good one right there!

From what I read on the net the whole town is dry, can't even drink. I've been to some ugly places but could always have a couple to help cope but this will be a new experience.

Sounds about as fun as poking salt grains into the end of your pee pee.:(

Been up here a week now, Deadhorse was like Vegas compared to Oogoruk Drill Camp. Sooner I look out a plane window and see this place the better. At least the days are nice and long.

Snow removal is easy, scoop up the drifts with a loader and dump it in front of a snowblower mounted on the front of a 966, shoot it straight up and the wind takes care of the rest.

I was there in Dead Horse, July, 1991. I was doing some work on mobile-radiotelephone base stations.
Stayed at the luxurious (not) Prudhoe Bay Hotel. LOL. A collection of ATCO modules hooked together.
We rolled in there about 2:30 a.m., still sunny of course, desk manager was asleep on the counter.
When he woke up he signed us in, and says were we hungry? Heck yeah, we had eaten everything we bought in Fairbanks before we left, and had been checking each tower site on the way up, including changing out a bad antenna on the tower by the Yukon River bridge.

Yup, hungry allright!

So the clerk says $5.00 each, and help ourselves to anything we can find in the dining hall refrigerators. :) So we made up some sandwiches.

One thing for sure, the word "FLAT" takes on a whole new meaning up there. And the news media and the public hear the words, "ANWR" and think it's some beautiful tree covered mountains, or whatever.
