Airline travel with avy backpack

Has anyone tried to pack their avy bag in their luggage? Can you fly with a full canister or does it need to be empty?

From what I've been told, canister must be empty to fly, otherwise ship the canister hazmat to your destination in advance.

Check with the maker. I know ABS has the paper work on the site about how to fly with it. I think in canada it's not a problem with the proper paper work. In the states I think it's a different storey

First hand knowledge canister needs to be empty.

Take pack as a carry on because the deployment device looks suspicious under the ex-ray machine and they will want you to explain it. Plus they wanted me to prove the canister was empty.

Other than that not a problem.

No pressurized cylinders of any kind allowed to my knowledge. Just ship it to the closest fedex/ups terminal, or directly to your destination address via ground shipping.

You might check before shipping to a fed-x or ups office.

About 13 years ago fed x told me I had to have a ship to address and couldn't use their location as the ship to. I had to explain/convince them I had no other alternative and they eventually agreed to let me do it. Maybe it is typically easier than that now.

I was on a motorcycle trip to Mexico and forgot my birth cert so figured we would be in Tucson in a few days so picked an office location on our route.

UPS requires you to have a hazmat license to send a full canister. I tried it once.

Done it many times. Go to ABS website and print to doc to include with checked luggage. Then make airline aware when you check bag.
