What is the difference between Ryde FX 2.0 Air shocks and Fox Float Air shocks?

The Fox floats are completely adjustable with your own air pump. Ryde fx can be adjusted by a dealer or someone who sevices shocks

Then why does the Ryde FX 2.0 Air come with a high pressure airpump like the Fox Floats?

Are you talking about the Zero Pros?

this is just my opinion and take it for what its worth (nothing! hahaha)

Both shox work on the air system with the idea that you can add and take away air pressure to stiffen or soften the dampening action.

If the rydeFX shox are the ones that came on the polaris dragons last year, and i think they are, they had problems holding together, and it seemed like the smallest blow to the shox themselves would bent the shaft and render the shock useless.

Im not sure what your price difference would be, but from what i have witnessed you might be best to steer towards the proven fox shox...

The mountain dragons had the walker evens air shocks, the shorty 08 dragons had Ryde FX Air 2.0 front shocks. I believe they are completely different. The ryde fx air 2.0 shocks come with a pump if you buy them aftermarket, but I believe that polaris didn't offer them with the sleds and used nitrogen.

FYI, You can put nitrogen into all air shocks to minimize pressure changes due to temperature, you just can't use the pump to adjust them on the hill.

ummm, how much nitrogen is in the air around us? ;)

Only 78% by volume. I think the 22% of the other stuff is the issue (mostly oxygen) is the issue as it changes volume, and therefore pressure, as the temp changes, more than nitrogen.

in the end, for the conditions the shocks on a snowmobile are used in, it doesn't make a difference. There isn't a person on this forum that could tell the performance difference between a nitrogen filled strut and one filled with a bicycle pump.

The Air 2.0 aftermarket come with a pump & work well. Maybe a little softer in the stutter bumps. I ran them last year & wouold say they are a quality product.
But...Fox has a new shock for next year that might be adjustable without the pump. Forget the features but it might be worth waiting until info is available on the new Fox.

how much you want to bet on that?

given the crazy elevation changes snowmobilers make and the density/temperature of air at said extreme elevations, you could easily tell the difference between a nitrogen charged shox and air charged shox.

Nitrogen and Air.. .hmmm

The floats use nitrogen.. just seperated by an IFP...

The Walker shock uses an emulsion design, very simple in design, and the nitrogen and oil are mixed together.

I think that with the valving dialed in on the Ryde 2.0... this could be one of the best and most adjustable shocks out there.

My understaning is that the Ryde 2.0 has dual progressive air-spring chambers and rates...which would give it characteristics closer to the EVOL X Floats.

I have not heard of any bent or damaged shock shafts on this shock.RYDE 2.0

I have been offered a set of RYDE F/X 2.0 AIR shocks new take offs for $350 delivered.

Says from Polaris sled and replaced with sponsor's shocks.

Are they worth $350? Gonna put them on a 2005 IQ or 2004 Edge.

The takeoffs are from a Switchback I imagine.....

The Switchback shocks have a longer installed length than the IQ RMK's ... not sure about your edge you got from Aaron.

You could run switchback A-arms for a good fit... I dont think you can shorten the Air 2.0's

Good luck.
