Air saw question

So putting on some WRP running boards and purchased a harbor frieght air saw. Hooked it up and after 20 min I've made about a 1/2" cut. Saw just powers out. I tried it at 90 PSI and higher, made no difference. end isn't clogged. Did I get a bad saw or is there something I'm missing. Blade moves, but powers out on touching metal

if its not far from you return it. if it involves shipping or a decent drive hit it with more oil and run it wide open for a few. mine took like 30 seconds. where did you oil it? i put some right in the fitting.

Why not "go for broke" and use a 4 1/2" angle grinder with a cut off wheel? :face-icon-small-hap IIRC its 10 bucks at harboring freight

I've got tht air saw too and it was a bust on running boards. Trace out your cuts with a magic marker and take a 6 pack to your buddy with a Plasma Cutter. Be sure to disconnect the ecu harness plug. Good luck. EW

harbor freight air saw is for simple jobs, mine works, but not real well.
wont be buying another tool like that from them.

Use a variable speed jig saw, fine metal blade, cut from back (bottom) side. I have done several this way....it just works! Be sure to round the corners. Square corners = cracks.

Cheers!

people buy from harbor freight because in most cases they won't use the tool they buy more than once. why spend alot of money on an air saw that will never be used again? or maybe be used 2 times? thats why people go and buy stuff there. granted it doens't always work out, but a co-worker bought a compound miter saw there for $100 to do his hard wood floors. came with a 3 year warranty. hes done with the floors and the saw works but is just sitting in his garage collecting dust. if your a contractor get the good stuff.

Make sure he cuts your boards before he downs the 6 pac and not after.:face-icon-small-ton

Fill air nipple with murpheys air oil to the top, squeeze trigger, fill again, connect to air supply and run for about a minute in 10 second bursts.

Returned saw for another. Was better, but still slow. Used sawsall. Worked great. Like the boards.
