Air/ Fuel ratio???

I am having problems with my 975 it runs like crap. can anyone tell me what kind of air/fuel ration their 900,s at mid range and WOT?

i know mine is rich 11-12.9 at wot how low can you go?

i am new to the af gauge have been running egt's going to install one of those this week too. any help would be appreciated.

on a side note i would stay away from HTG 975 kits his ecu's suck!!

When I spoke to the people at Boondocker, they said my A/F should be 13:1 at WOT. I would suggest installing dual EGT's over a single one.

Where did you mount the O2 sensor?

Flash how's your 975 running? Bigdawg and myself are having ecu issues. Where are you guys putting your o2 sensors? I was thinking on the top of pipe entering the can.

Mine isn't... I pulled the engine to replace mounts, crossmember. I got it 90% back together and started installing nitrous and then the sciatic nerve in my back went crazy and I've done nothing for 3 weeks.:(

That sucks well how was yours running? What fuel did you use? Did you run just HTG ecu? Or did you also have a fuel box?

The few times I rode it last year I had Koso Dual EGT's and a Boondocker box. Without the box it would run hot and the DET light would flash. With the box I made a few fuel maps and it was running ok. But the assisting spring on my oil pump was broken so my oil pump was sticking open I think. I have a bunch of black gunk build-up in my Y-pipe and can. Now that I fixed the spring I think it'll have a lot more to give than what I had. At it's best, I was pretty much even with an 05 900 Fusion with a pipe and I think a can on it. SLP if I remember right. That left me scratching my head. I should have left him in the dust. I think the oil pump spring was the culprit.

Where did you mount the O2 sensor?

i mounted my o2 in the pipe right before it goes to the can. if i need to move it i will.

thanks for the ratio that was kind of what i was thinking.

I installed my sensor right above the stock sensor on the pipe.
its a koso wideband o2 sensor, very nice to keep an eye on things.
usually see anywhere from 12's-16's, i think at wot im around 12 or 13 though.

Rob at HTG said they mount them right in the body of the can. I was going to mount mine on top of the pipe entering the can, but I don't think there is enough room there for the sensor with the heat sink.

thanks i think i will move mine and try it and add egt's

i never asked him but i am going to do as skisucca suggested and put it right above the stock sensor

I had heard before there is too much oil in the pipe and it will give you bad readings. But i also heard that you can't have it too close to the exit either because incoming air would screw it up also.

So what are you going to do as far as the ecu? Do you have a timing key in yours?

Boondocker said...The inlet on the can is a good place for the oxygen sensor. If you install it in the pipe that can be a high pressure area causing the sensor to not read correctly.

wasn't told i needed a timing key. where do you get them i was just starting to research them.

that is why i put mine where i did i didn't want it affected by the reversion in the midsection of the pipe

I bought my timing key from fett brothers they are $20 they have them 1.5,2.5,and 3.5 degrees. I talked to a guy on HCS that had an 05 htg 975 he had it dyno'd over at dynotech research in NY and he ran a 2.5 key with htg ecu and it ran good. The guy I bought my motor from said he said a 1.5 key with their ecu worked best, so that is what I put in. The key advances whatever timing your ecu has- so you add them.

yea i knew what they did. i will get a couple ordered from fettbrothers then. thanks.

I'll have to look into these...
