Air box temp sensor Yz450 efi

Wandering if guys are relocating air box temp sensor to help with over fueling issues? Or is ECU dumping extra fuel due to engine temps? Engine temp makes more sense?
I just dumped my oil after couple day ride in deep powder and had lots of fuel in it.. Ambient temps were warm out -1-2 celsius , the hottest engine got was 160-165 F on the trail.. Im running a thermo-bob thermostat dont think it hardly ever opens.. Going to try shrouding in the motor to get temps up i guess

air intake temp does most of the work for fuel changes.

i know you did some intake mods and such, the hard part about trying to manipulate it is if you get heat soaking, etc, you may then go super lean in conditions, IMO, i prefer a fuel controller to handle things. although if you shroud the motor and pull from under paneling from above the motor then you get some warmer air, which can help the whole program.

does your bike have the pod or just the modded shrouds?

The engine enclosure and blocking a rad helped over fuelling on my 2011. First rides without these I was amazed how much gas was in my oil. Now there is still a tiny bit of gas smell but the oil seems to keep a thick viscosity.
An oil change after every ride or two is something I still do.

I wondered the same thing, my bike ran great all last year but this last Friday I rode and my bike ran terrible the later half of the day, would have trouble idling and then would just fall on its face. I had a fuel pump go out this summer and it was similar symptoms but I don't think its that again. I ran my enrichener pulled out and it seemed to run and idle better, so that's more fuel/less air correct? I plugged in the GYTR Tuner/scan tool and it came up with error code 22, which is Intake air temp sensor, I checked wires and plug all seems fine, so I ordered a new one, only $24. I figured a new one should eliminate any questions. The riding conditions weren"t anything extreme by any means, 4,500' 30* and snowing lightly, no snow near the air box or motor. I'm running stock tune and no air box or shroud modifications as I never had a problem last year. Our snow here in Washington isn't as light as most places.

reloacated air temp

On my KX I relocated the air temp behind the head above the intake port (seemed like the warmest place on the bike) and enclosed it as best as possible.
The engine is shrouded and one radiator blocked off (air flow only). Also insulated the water temp sensor area to keep snow off and hopefully get a more accurate reading.
No fuel in oil and am running 100+ miles (one week) between oil changes with the old oil still looking good when changing.
Starts better than before. No programmer needed.

engine shroud

I cut up a blue kerosen can and made myself a not so pretty engine shroud. Pretty not, functional yes, bike ran awesome, temps up all ride, minimal snow around engine and oil has never looked so good after 1 ride!!

This fuel in oil happened after i did the pod/filter mod,, I kept sensor in same location inside air box,, did have quite abit of snow in air box area.. Pod did not block off though, but maybe the sensor being exposed too much did it and riding in deep powder.. My first trip with bike and stock set up snow wasnt deep either..
Maybe i'll try stock air box/intake boot again and shroud motor in

I'll check if any codes come up on my tuner as well.. Late in the one day it didnt want to idle either, adjusted idle screw and nothing helped, checked air box and was abit of snow in there, pod/filter was clean.. Going to go back to stock intake boot/filter and see if it helps

I just put my 1st couple of rides in over I Montana. It was cold and ant high elevation, no gas in the oil issues for me. Stock tune. It sis run rich for sure but no issues.
