Air box removal????

I just purchased a 2013 pro I have never worked on one before. But the reeds are going out. Im trying to get down to the airbox. I have the hood and side panels off. Do I have to take the frame cross bars off or is there a better way. Any tips would be greatly appreciated ... thanks guys

You bought a 13 already? Did you buy a demo from Polaris?

Corection 2012

Sorry guys it was a tipo. 2012 pro. How can you change three reeds without taking the airbox off???? No its not loose, I have only taken the top piece off the airbox. But got stumped when I realized how big it was and how little the space was. It seemed the only way was to take the chassis triangle cross bar supports off. And that's when I knew there had to be a better way...

Pull the tank. It will open everything up. Side panels, hood, then tank. After that you can pretty much get to everything you want.

Remove hood, side panels, belt, secondary clutch and belt cover. Rest the oil tank on top of te primary clutch. Disconnect the 2 fuels line from the tank. remove the top part of the airbox. Loosen the clamps that connect the airbox to the throttle bodies. Pull up on the back part of the airbox and at the same time pull towards the front of the sled. This will remove the airbox.

You dont have to disconnect the fuel lines, i didnt and it worked.

Do you have to remove the secondary clutch? I've not done that before.

Just lock the brake and undo the bolt - pulls off by hand. Make sure you note the spacers on the shaft. Retorque to 22-25 N*m and use blue loctite on threads when reinstalling.

Have FUN!

I also very lightly neva-seize the jackshaft, in the middle, FWIW. Never have an issue with any throw off. Floats like magic. Been doing it for decades, both fixed and float.

Ok guys got the fuel tank off, small top part of the airbox now onto the oil tank cover. Do I leave the oil tank on the bracket and remove them together or what??

Take the oil tank off of the clutch cover. Leave all the oilines hooked up to the oil bottle and set it up on the primary clutch to keep it out of your way. This lets you get the clutch cover totally out of your way and not have to bleed out your oil system.

dont replace the reeds with V-force! whatever you do...

EXACTLY!!! The Poo 800 eats V-Force III reeds and they currently have no answer for it. My set lasted about 500 miles and were severly chipped up and not sealing. Too much work to pull the airbox that often in my opinion.
