air box mods

I was wondering what kind of air box mods are out there?? I don't really want to put that god aweful looking slp thing on I was thinking of maybe putting 2 1" frog skinz or bulls eyes in that same area... Thinking that it'll look better and probably cost half as much or less

It's EFI so it will adjust itself, but really you wouldn't be adding any air just increasing it's ability to breath, so nothing to worry about as far as a box.

rather then keep adding more external vents, that just plug with snow,I added 1-2" flow rite to the back side of the airbox by the gas tank to allow it to pull fresh cold air from there when in deep snow(I just covered it with duct tape for less deep days and just reach in and pull the tape off on the deep days)then there is no issues with a pile of vents that are still going to plug up with snow on the submarine days anyway..has worked great the 1 time we had over the hood snow........

come on its not that ugly. :face-icon-small-hap
But it does work. and the air intake tubes inside get gutted, and 7 2" holes open it up Alot !

Mike did you do your vents a little at a time so that you can kind of tell how much each equaled in benies? The stock pillow covers obviously clog and require management in some conditions. I'm wondering about the shoulder vents. I like to mount the suction cup holder on the Contour and GOPRO's right where your center vent box is..so that is a no go. Getting awesome performance without a single extra vent (9 out of 10 days so far) but on those few days that had the right conditions I was wishing for more.

Yes Rob, I did add vents alittle bit at a time. We get the champange powder in CO. So my goal was to let heat out and keep snow out.We ride in the trees (Always afraid of the side vents)to many of our guys have stabbed branches in them. I hand made the side vents next to headlight,as well as my footwell vents.(best bang for the buck footwells) :face-icon-small-hap
I did the hood to keep the powder out. Big help! no real gain in horse power,
but did lower under hood temps.the knee vents help to let more air out also,
Now to the SlP air box. IT is a must!. Have you seen the air tracts
I could'nt get my fingers thru! very small doubled up plastic tubes from each stock vent, No Way for this to be able to deliver the volume @ ALT.
Rode Rabbit Ears Friday with the new air box. And It WORKS :face-icon-small-coo Very noticable difference. Side by side with another 163 pro. no vents same clutching. his would only turn 7900 on good climb, while I went past him turning 8250. I also saw 8450 going down trail, at 91 miles mph. :D not bad for a mtn. sled. I would highly reccomend Getting more air to the intake!
Biggest increase in the butt dyno says air box.
