I have an 03 800 rmk and an 02 700 rmk and was wondering if anybody has tried the aftermarket snowmobile belts and what ones if any are working and if they are as good or better than stock or on any sled for that matter

I have used the ultimax2 belts on an older indy 500. It only lasted 1 season. I have a polaris 080 that was on my 800 that is 2 seasons old and I know I could get a 3rd out of it(but its my spare now)
I also used a $20 belt on an old poo and it only lasted 5 or 6 rides.

i know its a different machine, but we have m7s. used Cat belts, and ultimax. I prefer the ultimax, but I'll use whatever is cheaper. the ultimax flexes easier than the cat belt, which means it'll build up less heat as it travels, less resistance = less friction = less heat. But all that being said, I have not officially measured clutch/belt temps yet.

When I bought my sled used 3 years ago, it had a Goodyear belt on it. I didn't know they made sled belts. I ran it in the mountains up until last weekend. It ran maybe 1000 miles, which the mountain guys will tell you is pretty good. I replaced it with the spare belt, also a Goodyear,so I'm very pleased, because belts have cost me nothing so far.

Found a winner

For the higher powered sleds I highly recommend the Utimax XS belt.
This is amazing. You will not be disappointed if your alignment is proper (as with any sled) this belt will take all you can give it and not fail. I tested one last season and ran it hard. Runs far cooler than others and never failed. Wear in 600 miles was maybe .010" measured with a vernier caliper. $125 each but will not let you down. A guy I know who rides very hard said he normally goes through 6 belts a year (Ultimax 3) but last year he installed the XS as I did and is still running it. He is amazed. All my friends are using this belt now.;)

Ultramax 3 on my 04REV--runs on D^Js kit--1,800 miles and still good. Haven't even had to change belt deflection but did go one clicker up in 2 years. I carry two used Doo belts as spares but have only used them to throw over my skis on steep down hills.

I just got a flier from shadtree powersports, they have the ultimax 3 belts on sale for $52 and the ultimax XS for $76 Thats the best prices I have seen on these belts.

Ultimax belts also have a one year warranty.Blow it up,send the pieces back in the mail with the receipt, warranty card and $6.In a couple weeks get a new one .Haven't run the XS belt yet, been using the Ultimax 3 and they do explode as will any belt if beaten hard enough.

Definitely the Ultimax XS belts. I used to go through the 3s like no other but had one XS belt on the whole rest of the season.
