Aftermarket Gasket Kit 06 Summit 800

I just got my order of engine parts to rebuild the top end on my 06 Summit X 800. I ordered a Widerosa gasket set for the top end thinking it would come with choices of base gasket thickness. I was wrong. It only come with one and it is not marked as to what the thickness is. I called the retailer and he told me that is a .025" thickness gasket and the is the same as the BRP gasket that I removed which has 7 pin holes in it between the jugs. When I do the convertion from standard to metric it only comes out to .635mm. Would this be the right gasket or would it be considered a .6 rather than a .7? Am I going to be alright to install it or will is throw things off.

when i rebuild my motor a few weeks ago i got the mcb kit and that base gasket was a little smaller than the brp ones, all the gaskets were, and they had a little note explaining it but i forgot what it said. i put it in and it seems to work.

on a side note have you checked your carbs out yet, last ngiht i checked all the jets in mine and they were easy to do

Carbs

I did check them out a little. My mag side piston melted down and I could not figure out the why.
I checked the card boots, reeds, RAVE's, Y pipe bolts nothing so I started into the carbs. I found the main jet on the mag side was plugged with some piss of s--t. I quick blow through it cleared it out. I then checked the PTO side for safety and it was fine. I am not sure how to check the pilot jet or any of the other carb internals. If you say it was easy maybe you can teach me so I can check out the rest of the carbs before re-assembly.

I just noticed that you also posted on my other thread hoping I could tell you how to clean the carbs out. Since you are now saying that is was easy does that mean you got it done?

ya i did it the other day, right beside your main jet is a hole, if you look down it you can fit a slotted screw driver down there and get your pilot jet out.

Good way to clean your pilot and main jets is just to replace them, super cheap and then you KNOW they are clean and flowing properly. You can probably replace both pilots and both mains for less than $10.00. Call around to your dealer or any dirt bike shops near you and you should be able to find the correct jets fairly easily. These jets are super common and many shops keep a stock of the most common ranges of jets on the shelf ;).

Don't lose that little brass washer that the Main Jets seat on as this part of the depth setting that the mains should be at, if the washer is not on the main jet when you pull it just look inside the carb float bowl and into the main jet seat, if there is a little ring of brass, that's the washer you want to not loose.

I gues what should be said now is, What size Pilot should we go too?
Heard that changing the pilot can make the sled stop idling at 3500rpm when you let off. Any comments on this?

0-3500ft elevation here

I did get the jet cleaning sorted out. I found the the pilot jets were quite dirty but not nearly as bad as the main jet on the MAG side that melted down. Thanks for the input on the the "how to". The sled is now back together and started right up and seems to run just fine.

Main jets are 440's
Pilot jets are 17.5's
There was no washer between the main jet and it's seat nor was there any washers rolling around in the float bowl. I am asumming that they were that way before I removed them and put them back in the same way it came out.
