Aftermarket back up camera

I have a new driver in the house and looking to install a back up camera on her Outback.

Anyone have suggestions for or against any particular models/brands?

I'm thinking a plate mounted camera may be the easiest and a replacement rearview mirror version. My F150 has the viewer in the mirror and it works fine.

Thanks

I recently spotted one of the plate mounted cameras while at Costco. Sorry I didn't pay attention to the price... A quick search on Amazon revealed lots of different options for the plate mounted cameras at various prices.

Good luck with the new driver!:juggle:

Backup Camera

I installed a Hopkins Backup Camera on my 2004 Dodge 2500 Crewcab. I like it. It works good and I can watch the ball as the trailer tongue gets right over it. It is not wireless. If the license plate is on the hatch or trunk lid, it might be tough to route the wire from the license to the screen you mount on the dash.

Ended up getting one from Amazon.

Pulled power from a reverse light in the rear lift gate, and ran the cable feed across the headliner to the replacement mirror. Mirror is auto-dimming now too for an added feature. Viewer is almost half of the mirror and very well lit.

I also added some LED rock lights to the rear lift gate since it has all but no light in the rear. Pulled this juice off the factory light so it comes on when the hatch is lifted.

Kind of a two-for-one since I was in there anyway.
