AFR sensor placement?

Just wondering about everyones opinion on where to place an AFR sensor in the exhaust system. In the pipe? Or after the turbo?

On a turbo application it is best after the turbo. In the stinger or silencer area. This area works OK for N/A sleds as well, but I like to put it in the expansion chamber area on the N/A sleds, like for Autotune. Here are some pictures of the autotune location.

Thanks Tony. I am trying to find a definitive reason on google right now but nothing other than "put it down stream!!" I know that you want to keep the sensor in the hottest part of the exhaust system(

Also, my A/F gauge uses a Bosch LSU4.9 sensor and I see the AEM uses a Bosch LSU4.2 sensor, what's the difference? I have read that the 4.9 sensor is more resistant to leaded fuels but other than that I'm not too sure. It's a good thing as I'm running AV gas.

Thanks in advance

Wide band O2 sensors don't like a lot of heat, should be mounted after the turbo because there is less heat and pressure, not that you will ever see a 2-stroke pipe glowing white hot while spinning a turbo.

I remeber reading my AEM instructions and is said post turbo as the higher pressure found pre turbo is bad for it.. either way, I trust them and installed it about 6" from the outlet of the turbo.

I always install them after the turbo, I have also found that the gauges/sensors like consistant power supplies, so I always like to run a small battery also if I can, that way they get the power supply they need. They seem to be more accurate and last longer than before I started using batteries.
