Aero 66 only builds 3lbs of boost on 09 M1000

This is an OVS kit. It was 5500.00. I installed it myself. Don't know how it would stack up against a BD kit. My guess is pretty close. Don't know as I have never ridden with anyone that has a BD PG kit on their 1000.

I just added a manual boost controller yesterday. It turns out the gauge was not bad. Still don't know why it wouldn't make more than 3 lbs of boost with the stock spring in it. When I pull the boost line going to the actuator it jumps up to 10-12 lbs of boost. I am told that means everthing is working OK. I have adjusted the manual boost controller to 6 lbs. First ride will be this Saturday. Hoping for the best.

I had 4 shim washers in with a green spring to make 5 psi on my aerocharger. You should have one shim in there to begin with and each shim after that should be about 3/4 of a psi increase. Sounds like your turbo is running just fine. I would use a manual boost controller and adjust it up from there. Changing the washers out tends to result in lost c clips from my experience. Leave it set low and you can adjust it up and back down with a turn of the wrist.

Yes! I was checking that out as well, seems like a great value! How intricate is the install? Could the average guy do it? What psi/fuel are you going to run and what kind of power is it supposed to make? Did you go with the OVS clutch kit as well? Is EBC a possibility with this kit? I've tried calling them guys a couple times now at OVS... I'm seriously considering purchasing..

The install is very easy with an aerocharger.

I did go with the OVS clutch kit which was part of the 5500.00.

I doubt EBC is a possibility as that is a Boondocker turbo piece which I THINK is tied into their electronics.

It is [around] 200+ hp on pump gas I think. The thing doesn't "feel" faster until you point it up a hill. Look out then. You get your money's worth! This was at 4-4.5 lbs of boost.

I don't think I would do an Aerocharger if I were going to do it over again. It's not because it runs bad or spools slow or is hard to tune. It is because you are limited to 10 "or so" lbs of boost before you are over spooling the turbo. If I am going to run race fuel I'd like to turn it up to 18 lbs or so and put it to my buddies. The other thing is a race kit doesn't cost that much more if you order it right off of the bat. JMO

I don't know what the fuel pressure is set at right off hand. I just set it where Travis and Garr said to. The kit runs good, no problems like that at all. Just need more boost. Way more!! Would have been cheaper to order a Garrett race gas kit in the long run.

Ya im glad you bought the kit you did that way you wont make me look as bad with my little m8t. It will be a great year:face-icon-small-hap

I was just at Boondockers and they told me their new EBC will work on any kit now. It does not need to be hooked up to their box. I was also told their box will work on any kit as well. I went with a Blox manual controller for 80 dollars vs the 400 dollar EBC. Plus I hate relying on electronics, and taxing the electrical system even more. There are pros and cons to each turbo. The Aerocharger does spool faster and takes less parts to install. I am currently running 4 psi on my OVS Garrett kit and loving it. Unless you are trying to keep up with the Jone's and running with other turbos it makes plenty of power to make the new sleds look weak. I have yet to turn up the boost.
