Advice

I am a 70 year old in decent shape who got into trail snow mobile riding this past winter. I rode back in CO but 20 years ago. I am not a powder hound nor care to go vertical or in the air but on a air plane. I like 4 stroke tech from my boating experience. So what does an old man get to cruise with a somewhat nimble machine that is not to heavy if I have to dig out. Thanks for the input.

4 Stroke Sled

Ski Doo Renegade Adrenaline with the 900 ACE motor. May need to install a taller track (1.75" or taller), gear it down and wider skis (DS-2?) for Washington if you have any idea of going off the freshly groomed trail.

You will probably get A LOT of different opinions on this one.

Do you like a lot of power, or are you more moderate...or do you prefer to put-put down the groomed trail?
It really depends on how you like to ride. Do you get off trail? Mostly groomed trail?
Are you more of sit down or stand up rider?
Are you a mechanic who likes to do his own work or are you a pull the rope and ride sort?
Are you planning to buy new or slightly used or REALLY used?

Riding season is winding down, so it might be hard to do it now, but grab every chance you can to sit on and ride a variety of different sleds.

It really does depend on what you prefer ergonomically and in the seat of the pants.

By the way, they are ALL heavy to dig out when you stick them right. LOL

My buddy had a snow bike and I was disappointed with the way it handled on the trail. Plus, I could be wrong here, but when I'm riding a sled at 70, which I will be :), I would like to have something that I could sit on and be comfortable on the trail for hours at a time. I would be looking at the new Arctic Cats ZR's or the SR Vipers from Yamaha. It's the newest 4 stroke technology and provides a nice ride on the trail. They are heavier than a 2 stroke, but if your looking at 4 stroke, they are all like that. Electric start, heaters, and accessories are all over these sleds which I think would make it great for someone who likes to get out and squeeze some throttle! Let us know what you decide!!!

There are a lot of differences in snowbikes and trail surfaces. A timbersled or UFO on a decent trail are pretty easy if you have the new timbersled ski or a snow hawk ski. Bumps can be less fun, and ice can be dicey.

Best sled for you......

Over the past couple of years, I have seen many older dudes riding 2012-2014 Pro-RMK 600's and riding like younger guys. Yes they are 2 strokes however,.....they are super light (especially when compared to 4 strokes), nimble, run clean, reliable, have awesome throttle repsonse, and handle and perform like no other production sled built today. And will perform like no other sled if and when you want to get a little rowdy.

I would look into a 2014 or a 2015 Pro-RMK 600 155" track with factory E-start. Have the shocks revalved and a couple little accessories and you will be happier than a pig in $hit.....

No, I'm not a sponsored Polaris rider....
