advice on breaking in new sled

I'm picking up my new 2012 Pro RMK 800 from the dealer this Saturday.

Before I take it out for it's first ride I'm looking for any advice on proper break in procedure. I've read about mixing oil in with the 1st tank of gas, and adjusting the oiler (seems to be some varying opinions on the necessity of doing this). Anything I need to know, as far as piston ring seating? Sorry if this is a stupid question, I've ridden and worked on a lot of dirt bikes, but have never owned a brand new dirt bike or snowmobile. I've done a lot of work on my current sled (04 RMK 700).

I ride in southwest CO typically between 9,000 and 12,000 feet. Should I be changing out clutch springs or weights? Anything else I'm missing that I should be aware of before I take it out for the first ride?

People will have different variations of how to break a motor in. The one thing I would say, that I believe to be very important is don't hold the throutle in any one position for the first 30 miles.

run it down the trail for 3 to 4 miles then let it cool down. I like to run it through 2 - 3 heat cycles. Then IMO ride it like you stole it. But never to hold the throutle in one place. I am always in and out of the gas for the first 3-4 rides. This is just how I break a motor in. everyone has there little tweaks!

non synthetic in 1st gas tank and non synthetic in 1st oil tank make sure to let it warm up then ride the shat out of it without extended periods of wide open throttle aka just varying throttle

thats how my old man did it at his race shop with great success on full out race watercraft and quads (2 strokes) also after being on here alot of guys go by this which is basically the exact same thing

of course this doesnt work for the 13's if you follow the quick drive belt break in.........:mad2: bush league

Thanks for the link, exactly what I was looking for.

How much non-synthetic oil should I run in the oil tank before I change over to synthetic. Should I fill the oil tank, or just fill halfway?

On a more serene level, during its break-in period (learing about its master) I like to make sure to expose the snowmobile to all the aspects that it will be used for. That way the sled will know its mission in life and will expect and excel at all that is put to it. If a long service life is expected, then teach the sled early. 550iq
