Adjusting EGT probe "depth"?

How do you adjust EGT probe depth once the copper fittings have been tightened down to the probe with weld in bungs? I think I have a slight mounting depth variance causing a difference in EGT readings at idle of about 80*f on a rebuilt motor.

Or is it common to see some variance in EGT consistency side to side until the motor is broken in?

On my last sled, they would vary side to side, but NEVER 80* at idle.

You'll have to cut them off with a Dremel, and a cut-off wheel, and put new on. They're crushed on there, and won't slide.

as long as the plugs are good at those temps, thats all you really need. switch em around for a bit and if the 80deg switches spots there you go.

but again, its the plugs that really matter and the temps that correspond to plugs looking good.
