Adjustable steering post on 08 M1000, Good or bad idea

I have an 08 M1000 162 and I am thinking about putting on an Telescoping steering post instead of a non-adjusting riser. Has anyone done this to their M1000? What is better, the non-adjustable or telescoping? If I decide to go with the telescoping am I better off to install it myself or have dealer install? I know it will be less expensive to install myself.

Any and all replies are welcomed.

instead of bending like other posts, they snap. I've been through 4 & know many others that have snapped them as well.

If you want an adj. riser just save some $$ & get a rox. It's stronger, it will bend over if you eat it, and it'll cost less.

I like mine ..easy install..not sure how there breaking them.I spent 3 weeks out west this year so far and I have biffed it a couple times and rolled it and mine is fine..and with all the guys I know that ride cat none have broke.

I would like to buy your (a) non adjustable steering post, ones of non sno pro 2009 or M's prior that are stock post

I didnt like the extra slop that comes with the telesopic post as well as when you raise it up it moves you back on the sled when standing. I wouldnt bother with the swap, but some guys like it. Put a rox riser on and ride.

+1

The slop in the tele post is horrible and designed bad IMO. I actually just swapped over to a standard post and risers. If you decide to go with aftermarket risers make sure you get a offset kit that RSI makes. You need this so your top clamp on the risers does not clamp on the bend in the bar.

i smashed my sled super bad early this season, and my dealer put on the adjustable post without my consult, it is nice to have the rise, but i dont move it at all....it stays at the top postion...so i would say get a riser, cause it will be cheaper easier and better. and probably wont snap, just bend like someone already said in here
