Adding extra hole thermostat

Has anyone seen a benefit in adding a extra hole in their thermostat ? I was thinking about how it may help with the cold shot .

i think it should help with cold shot and maybe drop operating temperature a little.tried drilling it with a std drill bit,but gave up.if you look at Realbass's pictures of the Vipec Ecu logging you can actually see how his engine temps vary alot according to load, boost, eng rpm and trottle position.very usefull .

Lets air escape when filling,,so much easier. Some say it may help dampen coolant pulse when open/closing. Cold shot is interesting question never mapped it per say.
Worked well on 900 RMK with temp display, temps very "smooth" less spikes after rad delete. Stayed in 3k miles never a heat issue.

I did this on my 2010 800. Sled would take forever to get up to operating temperature and would never run over 120. sled didn't seem to run right.

I have. I started doing this 2 seasons ago, first in the CFI-4 and last year in the CFI-2. It definately helps with the drastic temp swings (about 50% less in my testing.) I'd be curious to see how much better it would be in the -10'F temps vs. a non-drilled t-stat which we don't get around here.

A good carbide drill bit .125" or 1/8" (Snap-on) and a spring loaded center punch makes it easy, drilled opposite 180' of the factory bypass hole.
